  • Patent number: 8226121
Abstract: A steering column arrangement for motor vehicles with a vehicle-side console, on which an outer tube of a steering column carrying a steering shaft is attached in a releasable manner by means of a clamping device. The clamping device comprises at least one clamping wedge arrangement by which an increased holding force of the clamping device can be achieved during an axial displacement of the outer tube caused by an accident.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 10, 2008
Date of Patent: July 24, 2012
    Assignee: Daimler AG
Inventors: Christian Bastein, Philip Bockshammer, Jens Bohlen, Karsten Braeuer, Heiko Holst, Holger Kittler, Hans Kluemper, Sven Sagner, Carsten Sass

  • Patent number: 7415908
Abstract: A clamping device includes a first clamping plate and a second clamping plate, the first clamping plate being rotatable between a released position and a clamped position in relation to the second clamping plate. The clamping device further includes a rolling body which establishes contact between the first and second clamping plates. The second clamping plate includes a clamping ramp with a contour for the rolling body so that when the clamping plates are rotated in relation to each other, the space between the clamping plates changes. The first clamping plate has a surface which forms a plane on which the rolling body rolls from the released position to the clamped position.

  • Publication number: 20060213309
Abstract: The application describes a clamping device for a steering column, in which a first clamping plate element is rotatable between a released position and a clamped position in relation to a second clamping plate element, wherein a rolling body which establishes contact is provided between the clamping plate elements. The second clamping plate element comprises a clamping ramp with a contour for the rolling body so that when the clamping plate elements are rotated in relation to each other, the space between the clamping plate elements changes. One clamping plate element comprises a surface which forms a plane on which the rolling body rolls from the released position to the clamped position.
