Patent number: 12339354Abstract: A method for identifying and classifying objects in the surroundings of a motor vehicle, which method uses merely a single sensor for object detection. The method is characterized in that this single sensor moves in space while the object is being detected. In this case, during the measurement, the single sensor would act to a certain extent like a second sensor. The echo signals, reflected by the object, of different measurement cycles can be used to determine the differential speed, distance and angle. The method provides the possibility of being able to classify, by means of a single sensor, objects and items in the surroundings of a motor vehicle in terms of their size.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2021Date of Patent: June 24, 2025Assignee: Brose Fahrzeugteile SE & Co. Kommanditgesellschaft, BambergInventors: Christopher Trenkle, Carsten Topf, Julian Adametz, Benjamin Grünewald, Wolfgang Uebel

Publication number: 20250198221Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a method for operating a flap arrangement, wherein a control arrangement for activating a motorized drive arrangement assigned to the flap arrangement and a radar sensor coupled to the control arrangement are provided, wherein sensor values relating to a user action of a user situated outside of the motor vehicle are detected by the radar sensor, wherein the detected sensor values are checked, by the control arrangement, for the fulfillment of prescribed user action criteria, wherein, depending on the result of the check, the user action detected via the sensor values is rejected or is qualified as a valid user action, and wherein, upon detection of a valid user action, the control arrangement activates the drive arrangement for the motorized displacement of the flap arrangement. It is proposed that, a time-dependent association of detected sensor values with the user is performed by means of the control arrangement.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2022Publication date: June 19, 2025Inventors: Michael Wuest, Julian Adametz, Christopher Trenkle, Wolfgang Uebel, Benjamin Gruenewald, Sergej Gauerhof, Martin Halbig, Syed Imad Ud Din, Matthias Ruppert, Carsten Topf

Patent number: 11709242Abstract: A method for detecting a living being on a seat of a vehicle, further relating to a detection arrangement and to a vehicle. The method may include emitting electromagnetic waves at predetermined frequency or at a predetermined frequency band towards the seat by an electromagnetic radiator, receiving electromagnetic waves reflected on a surface by a sensor, detecting an object on the seat from a transit time of the emitted and the reflected electromagnetic waves between the radiator, the surface and the sensor by a detection device, detecting movements of the object from the reflected electromagnetic waves by the detection device if an object has been detected, determining from the detected movements of the object whether the detected object is a living being, and outputting a detection signal by way of the detection device if it has been determined that the detected object is a living being.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2020Date of Patent: July 25, 2023Inventors: Sergej Gauerhof, Carsten Topf, Wolfgang Uebel, Benjamin Gruenewald
