Abstract: A self-ligating bracket for orthodontics includes a resilient clamp, wherein a first clamp leg is inserted in a slit and can be moved therein between a closed and open position to prevent an unintended loss of the clamp. The first clamp leg has at least one oblong recess, into which protrudes a projection that proceeds from the lingually or labially situated surface of the slit. The recess is bordered on its end facing away from the clamp bend by a stop, which hits the projection in the open position of the clamp and limits a further movement of the clamp. The surface situated opposite the projection forms an escape space inside of the slit, into which the first clamp leg escapes with the stop under a resilient deformation when the stop slides over the projection during insertion of the clamp.

Abstract: The invention relates to an orthodontic tool for opening a self-ligating bracket, having a body (10) which carries on its end a tappet (12) for displacing a clamp (5) of the bracket out of its closed position and into its open position, an annular groove (13) being situated between the tappet and the body, in which an upper edge of the bracket engages in displacement of the clamp (5) out of its closed position and into its open position between the tappet (12) and the body (10) for axial positioning of tappet (12) with respect to the bracket to be opened. The invention also relates to a system having such a tool and a self-ligating bracket.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a set of shell appliances for correcting tooth misalignments in a patient, wherein a target position is established from a current position of the patient's teeth, models of the patient's individual teeth or of groups of the patient's teeth are produced and can be arranged on a support to form a model of a set of teeth. In accordance with the invention, a set of supports is produced, which have a respective fitting position for each of the tooth models, the position and alignments of said fitting positions predefining a position of the tooth model, wherein the positions predefined by the supports form a sequence that leads in steps to the target position, and the tooth models are fitted in succession onto the individual supports, thus producing a respective model of a set of teeth, and a shell appliance is produced from each of these models of a set of teeth by thermoforming.
