Publication number: 20240367413Abstract: A cross-laminated panel or mat can be comprised of a plurality of lumber/wood boards positioned and arranged in layers that alternate in transverse directions with respect to one another (hereinafter defined as a “cross-laminated panel” or a “panel”). The reinforced panel comprises a plurality of dowels specifically machined and sized wherein the plurality of dowels are dipped into and coated with adhesive. The plurality of dowels are further configured to be drilled and inserted into an existing bond line in order to enhance the service life and prevent edge delamination. In addition, a method of reinforcing the structural strength of a mat/panel is provided. The invention disclosed herein further comprises a method of reinforcing the structural strength of a cross-laminated timber mat/panel by infusing and dipping the cross-laminated mat/panel with a preservative or biofriendly pesticide to enhance the service life and prevent rotting and decaying.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2023Publication date: November 7, 2024Inventors: Jeffery T. Faye, Carter Sterling, Kevin Hsu

Patent number: 11566385Abstract: A crane mat is disclosed having a plurality of panels of lumber positioned in alternating transverse directions with respect to one another, where the top and bottom panels are oriented parallel to the direction of vehicular traffic. The top and bottom panels may include a plurality of spaced apart grooves extending longitudinally from a first longitudinal end of the crane mat to a second longitudinal end of the crane mat for enhancing traction of a vehicle when traversing across the crane mat by transporting rain or moisture off the mat, or for receiving mud or other debris. The crane mat may include a plurality of edge protectors positioned on respective sides of the crane mat to protect the crane mat from handling damage. In various embodiments, the crane mat may be manufactured using either softwood, hardwood, or any combination of softwood and hardwood.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2021Date of Patent: January 31, 2023Assignee: Sterling Site Access Solutions, LLCInventors: Carter Sterling, Cooper Sterling, Michael O'Connell, Christian Sterling, Carson Sterling, John Sterling, John Rake

Patent number: 11247362Abstract: The present disclosure is directed towards an Improved Circular Saw Blade for simultaneous and combination cutting and chamfering a workpiece comprising a modified circular saw blade configured as a primary cutter to be mounted to one end of an arbor shaft rotatable on an axis. The modified circular saw blade comprises a plurality of substantially identical slots spaced circumferentially and extending radially inward towards the center. A modified chamfer tool is then configured as a secondary cutter to be aligned and mounted coaxially behind the primary cutter on the arbor shaft. The modified chamfer tool comprises angularly disposed peripheral chamfer blades mounted in the slots of the primary cutter so as to be displaceable transversely to the longitudinal axis of the modified circular saw blade.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2020Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: STERLING SITE ACCESS SOLUTIONSInventors: Carter Sterling, John Rake, Sean Hedden, Michael Janociak
