  • Patent number: 9224127
Abstract: An adaptable user interface is formed based on a role assumed by a user and the identification of tasks in a process that need to be performed. For each role assumed by the user, a set of tasks assigned to the role is identified. Each task is evaluated to determine if it is an active task that needs to be performed in one or more processes. For each active task, an element is added to the user interface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 19, 2011
Date of Patent: December 29, 2015
    Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLC
Inventors: Jakob Nielsen, Nicholas Justin Lowe, Kevin Honeyman, Cary Lane Rohwer, Brian Glaeske, Hans Roed Mark, Morten Holm-Petersen, Arne de Booij

  • Patent number: 7117259
Abstract: A process is provided for managing media data in a network system. The network system includes: an administrator terminal having a display unit for displaying graphical information, and an input/output unit for receiving user input; and at least one media server communicatively coupled to the administrator terminal via a network. Each of the media servers is capable of accessing at least one corresponding memory device for storing media data, and is operative to perform operations associated with selected portions of the media data. The process provides a centralized user interface for scheduling and coordinating execution of operations performed by selected ones of the media servers.

  • Patent number: 6963910
Abstract: A process is provided for managing operations including encoding operations in a network system including an administrator terminal, at least one server communicatively coupled to the administrator terminal via a computer network, and at least one multimedia device operative to generate media data and being communicatively coupled with a corresponding one of the servers. Each of the servers is operative to selectively activate the corresponding multimedia device, and is also operative to encode media data received from the corresponding multimedia device, and is further operative to access a corresponding memory device for storing media data.

  • Patent number: 6763377
Abstract: A process of managing media data in a network is provided, the system including an administrator terminal, at least one media server communicatively coupled to the administrator terminal via a network, and a plurality of end user terminals, each of the media servers being operative to store media data, and to transfer portions of media data to selected locations via the network, at least one of the media servers also being operative to stream media data to selected ones of the end user terminals. The process provides a centralized user interface for scheduling and coordinating the execution of operations performed by the media servers. The process begins with a step of displaying a graphical user interface including a plurality of interface components on a display unit of the administrator terminal, the components enabling a user of the administrator terminal to define and schedule operations to be performed by selected ones of the media servers on corresponding portions of media data.

  • Patent number: 6457016
Abstract: A system and method for speeding data entry into an electronic form. the method includes providing the electronic form with a field that requires input of real-time data, and displaying the form to a user. The data is then automatically retrieved and displayed in real-time in the field. In response to a user interaction, the data is committed such that a current value of the data becomes a static entry in the field.
