Abstract: A vehicle monitoring system comprises a detection device, a first sensor, a second sensor, a display and a controller. The detection device is coupled to the vehicle and configured to capture information relating to an area proximal to the vehicle. The first sensor is configured to detect a first vehicle condition relating to a user's presence within the vehicle. The second sensor is configured to detect a second vehicle condition relating to an operation of the vehicle. The display is disposed within the vehicle and configured to provide the information captured by the detection device to the user. Also, the controller configured to control the display to provide the information in a first format when the first sensor detects the first vehicle condition and to provide the information in a second format, different from the first format, when the second sensor detects the second vehicle condition.

The display includes a display area that is configured to provide the information captured by the detection device to a user of the vehicle. The controller is configured to control the display to provide the information on a first portion of the display area that is less than an entirety of the display area in response to a first vehicle condition, and to provide the information on a second portion of the display area, greater than the first portion, in response to a second vehicle condition.
