  • Publication number: 20070043890
Abstract: Various embodiments for transferring and/or decompressing data blocks are described. In an embodiment, a memory transfer engine transfers a first data block from a nonvolatile memory to a volatile memory. A processor may decompress the transferred first data block. Furthermore, the memory transfer engine may initiate a transfer of a second data block from the nonvolatile memory to the volatile memory prior to the processor completing the decompression of the transferred first data block.

  • Publication number: 20070041448
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the quality of MPEG video are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a group of pictures (GOP) is obtained and decompressed, producing an initial decompressed GOP. This initial decompressed GOP is spatially shifted to at least two shift positions. At each shift position, MPEG compression and decompression are applied, producing a resulting decompressed GOP for each shift position. The resulting decompressed GOPs are shifted back to their initial position and combined, preferably by averaging, to form an improved GOP.

  • Publication number: 20060284993
Abstract: The shutter of a digital imaging device may be calibrated by comparing a characteristic of two separate exposures obtained from a single field of the device's imaging sensor during a single exposure cycle. Calibrating the shutter in this manner facilitates the accuracy of even very short exposure times.

  • Publication number: 20060062484
Abstract: A method comprises detecting edges in at least a region of a captured focus image, using adjacent pixels of the region to obtain first edge detection results and filtering the first edge detection results. The first filtering comprises comparing differences in pixel contrast in the first edge detection results with a first threshold value and removing the differences in pixel contrast that are less than the first threshold value from the first edge detection results. The method further comprises detecting edges in at least the region, using non-adjacent pixels of the region to obtain second edge detection results and filtering the second edge detection results. The second filtering comprising comparing differences in pixel contrast in the second edge detection results with a second threshold value and removing the differences in pixel contrast that are less than the second threshold value from the second edge detection results.
