  • Patent number: 11405717
Abstract: An earphone has a body housing a transducer that is capable of generating an acoustic signal and directing the acoustic signal to an outlet in the body, the body being positionable in, on, or near an ear of user so that the acoustic signal can be directed into the ear canal of the user. The earphone also has an ear coupling mechanism comprising a sealing mechanism with a sealing member that is adapted to contact a portion of the ear of the user to at least partially create a seal between the ear canal and the external environment and a venting mechanism capable of venting air between the ear canal and the external environment, the venting mechanism comprising an air conduit that is adapted to communicate on one end with the ear canal and at another end with the external environment so that air can flow through the conduit to equalize a pressure differential across the sealing mechanism. The air conduit is sized and shaped so as to provide an improved audio performance over an earphone without the air conduit.

  • Publication number: 20220068297
Abstract: A system and method provides for false wake abatement. For instance, an audio energy detection controller opens a keyword detection window in response to a detected audio input level reaching a threshold and a keyword detector detects a keyword in response to a detected audio input corresponding to a keyword signature. In response to both a keyword being detected and the detected audio input level indicating a near field source of the speech, a device may be triggered to awaken. In this manner, the incidence of false awakenings due to keywords spoken by proximate third parties is ameliorated.

  • Publication number: 20210378869
Abstract: An earplug with pressure regulation and noise control, for assembling on an earphone. The earplug is provided with a sound passage hole to connect with the earphone, and pressure regulation chambers formed on the periphery of the sound passage hole, with the pressure regulation chambers encircling the sound passage hole. In addition, an air inlet and an air vent are respectively formed in the pressure regulation chambers corresponding to the two extremities of the sound passage hole. When the earphone with the earplug is placed in the ear canal, air inside the ear canal is able to pass through the air inlets and enter the inside of the pressure regulation chambers, after which the air is expelled through the air vents. Hence, apart from effectively reducing air pressure inside the ear canal, the present invention further increases supporting strength and also achieves the effect to control noise interference.

  • Patent number: 7950606
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing secondary power to aircraft systems. In one embodiment, an aircraft system architecture for providing power to an environmental control system includes an electric generator operably coupled to a jet engine. The jet engine can be configured to provide propulsive thrust to the aircraft, and the electric generator can be configured to receive shaft power from the jet engine. The environmental control system can be configured to provide outside air to a passenger cabin of the aircraft in the absence of bleed air from the jet engine.
