Abstract: A method for pairing a wireless device with an access point using a push button on the access point includes receiving a request at an access point to join a wireless network and receiving a push button command to pair the wireless device to the access point. The method then inhibits broadcast of all service set identifiers associated with the access point and determines if the wireless device is permitted to pair with the access point. The access point then broadcasts only a service set identifier associated with the wireless device so that erroneous pairings between the access point and the wireless device are prevented.

Abstract: A method performed by an AP to transfer remote stations operating on a WLAN from one channel frequency to another channel frequency includes registering all remote stations using the access point on a first channel frequency (405), detecting channel congestion and deciding to switch channel frequency (410). The AP selects a second channel frequency (415), sends one or more channel change messages to all remote stations to change to the second channel frequency (420) and checks whether all registered remote stations reconnect after switching (425). If any registered remote stations are missing then the AP selects another channel frequency (415, 420). The AP continues such testing and until all registered STAs have reconnected or all channels have been selected. If all channels have been selected and any STA is still missing, then the AP indicates reconnection failure (440).

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing secure access to a wireless station (12) to an access device (60) and network is provided. Upon initial activation, a wireless gateway/set-top-box (60) is configured to enable an isolated web server (72) and to enable insecure access point authentication. Once enabling has been performed, a detected wireless station (12) can be authenticated and associated with the wireless gateway/set-top-box (60) by revealing the MAC address of the wireless station (12), for example, to an administrator. If the MAC address is accepted, the MAC address is stored in a MAC address filter list of the wireless gateway/set-top-box (60). The wireless station (2) is de-authenticated and disassociated with the wireless gateway/set-top-box (60) and the isolated web server (72) and insecure access point authentication is disabled. Secure access point authentication for the wireless station (12) can then begin.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for updating software, usually a web browser, associated with customer premises equipment (CPE), includes sending a request to resources external to the CPE for update data to update the software, decoupling the CPE from the external resources so that the software can be updated without interfering with other functions of the CPE during updating of the software, and updating the software as the CPE is decoupled from the external resources and recoupling the CPE to the external resources after updating of the software is completed.

Abstract: A method of quality of service (QoS) activation of customer premises equipment (CPE) associated with a network, includes activating classifiers associated with a switch port in the CPE, and determining when an associated IP address of the switch port is also activated, wherein the switch port classifier is activated only when the IP address of the switch port is also activated.

Abstract: A telematics system and method is provided, wherein the telematics system includes a processor having a core, a cell in communication with the core, and an applications processor in communication with the mobile processor. The system further includes at least one communication channel in communication between the mobile processor and the applications processor, wherein the mobile processor and the applications processor communicate data over the at least one communication channel during normal operation of a telematics system, and the mobile processor and applications processor communicate data over the at least one communication channel when the telematics system is at least one of being developed and manufactured.

Abstract: An apparatus included a receiver for receiving an audio file signal, a decoder for demodulating the audio file signal; and a processor for polling the decoder for a loss of a phase lock in the demodulating of the audio file signal. The processor resets and reinitializes the decoder in response to the loss in the phase lock loop. The receiver includes 90 MHz radio frequency reception circuit. The decoder comprises an eight-to-four modulation EFM decoder. In the preferred embodiment, the decoder outputs a digital audio stream that conforms to a known I2S audio stream format.

Abstract: An apparatus (20) provides a dynamically-generated audio and/or video error file upon the occurrence of an error condition in a wireless virtual file system (100). According to an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus (20) includes a host interface (22) for connecting to a host device (10) and a network interface (30) for connecting to a wireless network (40). A controller (24) is coupled to the network interface (30) for retrieving a name of a file stored in a storage device (50) connected to the wireless network (40), and is coupled to the host interface (22) for transmitting the name of the file to the host device (10). If no name is retrieved, the controller (24) transmits a signal indicating an error condition.

According to an exemplary embodiment, a transmitter includes a serial data source. An encoder provides encoded data and includes a first PLL. A controller includes a second PLL which enables generation of a clock signal. The controller is coupled between the serial data source and the encoder for providing the clock signal to the encoder. The first PLL of the encoder locks to the clock signal.
