  • Patent number: 4962940
Abstract: A pair of endless belt track assemblies attach to the frame of a hand truck and extend backwards from the ground wheels for a distance to facilitate travel on stairs or the like during the intervals when the ground wheels are out of contact with the stair treads. Rollers are situated between the front, back, lower and upper regions of a pair of spaced apart side plates and are spaced from the edges of the plates to define a continuous belt guideway between the peripheral regions of the side plates. An endless belt is seated in the guideway in continuous contact with each of the rollers and functions as a crawler track when the truck wheels are out of contact with the stairs. The construction reduces resistance to belt movement from friction and inhibits jamming of the rollers and snagging of the belt.

  • Patent number: 4873730
Abstract: A fitting for securing the base of a toilet or the like to a floor and which also couples the toilet to a drain pipe includes a ring and a sleeve which are normally held together in coaxial relationship but which can be disengaged, if necessary, for such purposes as replacing one sleeve with another of different length. The sleeve fits on the end of the drain pipe while the ring has passages through which fasteners may extend to secure the ring to the floor and to secure the toilet to the ring. The inner edge of the ring extends between a flange and spaced apart projections on the sleeve to fasten the two elements together in coaxial relationship while enabling turning of the ring, after the sleeve has been bonded to the drain pipe, to align the fastener passages of the ring with those of the toilet. Notches in the inner edge of the ring enable the two elements to be separated, if necessary, by turning the ring to bring the notches and sleeve projections to the same locations.

  • Patent number: 4856910
Abstract: Apparatus for stirring the contents of a container during cooking or during mixing of constituents of a liquid has a cross-beam which spans the container and which carries clamps that secure the cross-beam to opposite portions of the container rim. A stirrer shaft extends downward from the central region of the cross-beam and carries a stirring blade with vanes which extend from the shaft in opposite directions and which are inclined away from a vertical orientation to force the container contents upward as the blade revolves. An electrical motor, drive shaft and gearing mounted on the cross-beam turn the stirrer shaft and blade. The motor is located on an end of the cross-beam that extends away from the container. The apparatus provides for thorough mixing, easy cleaning and maintenance and isolates the motor from spatterings, vapors and heat that can arise from the container.

  • Patent number: 4780915
Abstract: A floor flange for coupling the outlet of a toilet to a drainpipe which extends through the floor beneath the toilet has a sleeve member can be fitted on to the upper end of the drain pipe and has a flange member with a central opening through which the sleeve member extends. Screw passages enable the flange member to be secured to the floor and bolt passages provide for securing the toilet base to the flange. The flange member has a rectangular outline and in the preferred form is at least as broad as the base of the toilet. The flange configuration facilitates toilet installations as the openings which must be cut in the subjacent flooring need not be circular.

  • Patent number: 4730854
Abstract: A floor drain includes a cylindrical drain body having external threads formed thereabout and an upper flange extending radially outwardly from the drain body and disposed flush with the floor surface. A threaded nut is secured about the drain body to engage the lower surface of the floor. The drain body includes a lower bore portion adapted to receive the upper end of a waste discharge pipe, the pipe being secured therein by adhesive or the like. A plurality of shoulder stops extend inwardly from the upper end of the lower bore portion to limit the upward position of the waste discharge pipe. The upper end surface of the waste discharge pipe is substantially exposed by the shoulder stops, so that a bead of sealant may be disposed at the junction of the upper end surface and the lower bore to seal the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4712758
Abstract: A pedestal of the type having arms which extend from a central load supporting hub to caster wheels or other floor contacting elements is separable into two essentially linear primary components. The hub is defined by nesting hub elements each of which has a pair of oppositely extending arms. The separated components can be arranged to occupy a relatively small space thereby facilitating packaging, transporting and storage of the pedestal. Assembly can be easily accomplished by orienting one of the components at right angles to the other and then fitting the hub element of one into the hub element of the other.

  • Patent number: 4622703
Abstract: A fitting for coupling a drain pipe to an opening in the base of a shower or other installation where water may accumulate includes a cylindrical body fitted into the opening in coaxial relationship with the pipe and is of greater diameter than the pipe to provide an annular gap between the body and pipe. A resilient annular seal disposed in the gap is proportioned to be radially compressed between the body and pipe and has an annular slot extending downward within the seal from the upper surface of the seal. A rigid annular compressor member is wedged into the slot to increase radial compression at the upper portion of the seal. The construction can be easily installed and removed and tolerates small variations in the vertical position of the shower base relative to the drain pipe.

  • Patent number: 4597112
Abstract: A drain fitting for bathtubs, sinks or the like has an annular body and a closure member which may be seated against the inlet end of a drain passage through the body. A stem extends from the closure member through a guide element within the drain passage and a spring acts between the stem and guide element to apply sealing pressure to the seated closure member. The closure member may be manually pulled outwardly from the body against the force of the spring and turned angularly to latch the member at an open position when fluid is to be drained. The positive sealing force generated by the spring minimizes or avoids leakage under conditions where the forces of gravity and pressure from overlying liquid may be inadequate for the purpose.

  • Patent number: 4562602
Abstract: A wide floor drain which is adapted to fit a narrow waste pipe includes a wide drain body having an upper flange extending radially outwardly from the upper end thereof and disposed generally flush with a floor surface. The drain body includes external threads which secure an upper exterior nut adapted to compressively engage the underside of the floor. A wide lower flange extending radially inwardly from the lower end defines a narrow bore. A tubular coupling member extends through the lower bore, and includes an upper coupling flange which is dimensioned to be disposed directly superjacent to the lower flange of the drain body. The coupling member also includes exterior threads which secure a lower exterior nut adapted to impinge upon the exterior of the lower flange.

  • Patent number: 4447918
Abstract: In a pop-up drain fitting threadedly secured to a spider at the lower end of the drain body, the improvement comprising a detent member pivotally joined to the lower end of the pop-up drain fitting. A stop member is disposed adjacent to the detent member to permit the detent member rotation in only one direction. The detent member depends downwardly by gravitational force to extend through the spider. Clockwise threading motion of the pop-up fitting into the drain body is permitted by the detent arm; counterclockwise rotation of the pop-up fitting causes the spider to impinge upon the detent arm and drive it into the stop member, thereby preventing removal of the pop-up fitting.

  • Patent number: 4329744
Abstract: A shower receptor drain assembly includes a generally cylindrical drain body having a flange extending upwardly from the upper end thereof. An inner flange extends radially inwardly from the lower edge of the drain body, and is provided with an inner diameter which permits a waste discharge pipe to extend upwardly therein. A plurality of bosses extend upwardly from the inner flange and are spaced equally thereabout. An annular sealing gasket is disposed within the drain body and received about the upper end of the waste discharge pipe. A compression ring is disposed directly superjacently of the sealing gasket, and a plurality of screws extend through the ring and through aligned passages in the gasket to be retained in tapped holes in the plurality of bosses. The screws cause compression of the sealing gasket to effect a leak-proof seal of the waste pipe within the drain body.
