    Abstract: An electronic smoking system including an electronic cigarette having an outer shell with an orifice, wherein the outer shell includes a liquid cartridge holding a fluid to be vaporized into a vaporized mixture of air and vaporized fluid, an atomizer for vaporizing the fluid, and a sensor system with one or more sensors configured for detecting a force or pressure exerted by an outer wall surface of the liquid cartridge on the sensor(s). The detected force or pressure may be used as a measure for the fluid volume of the liquid cartridge.
