  • Patent number: 8934717
Abstract: A method and system for automatically creating an image product based on media assets stored in a database. A number of stored digital media files are analyzed to determine their semantic relationship to an event and are classified according to requirements and semantic rules for generating an image product. Rule sets are applied to assets for finding one or more assets that can be include in a story product. The assets, which best meet the requirements and rules of the image product are included.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 6, 2007
Date of Patent: January 13, 2015
Assignee: Intellectual Ventures Fund 83 LLC
Inventors: Catherine D. Newell, Mark D. Wood, Kathleen M. Costello, Robert B. Poetker
  • Publication number: 20080306995
Abstract: A method and system for automatically creating an image product based on assets stored in a user database. A number of stored digital media files are analyzed to determine their semantic relationship to an event and are classified according to requirements and semantic rules for generating the image product. These requirements and rules refine the association between the assets and the event for which the image product is generated. The assets which best meet the requirements and rules of the image product are ranked and the highest ranking ones are included in the image product.

  • Patent number: 5184194
Abstract: A scavenging device for recapturing charged carrier particles from a moving image-bearing surface includes a first pickup member and a second pickup member. The first pickup member is mounted adjacent toner and carrier particles on the image-bearing member, and is biased electrically to a polarity relatively opposite to the polarity of the charged carrier particles. The second pickup member is also mounted adjacent toner and carrier particles on the image-bearing member to be effective at a point downstream of the first pickup member. The second member, as such, is electrically grounded for capturing from the image-bearing member wrong sign carrier particles.

  • Patent number: 5132739
Abstract: An image-forming apparatus is adapted to make duplex copies with a separate pass through the fuser for each side. To prevent fusing oil from contaminating an image member by passage from a first image side of a duplex copy to a transfer drum and, hence, to the image member, an oiling algorithm to prevent or lessen oiling during fusing of the first side of duplex copies is provided. Preferably, the apparatus has a finite duplex return path which can hold a limited number of receiving sheets, which number is small enough that offset does not occur while doing first side-duplex fusing.

  • Patent number: 4761671
Abstract: A subprocess is useful in start-up and shutdown of electrophotographic apparatus of the type designed to tone discharged areas. During the subprocess, a photoconductive member passing through a toning station is subjected to an electrical field tending to inhibit toning even of discharged areas. This permits discharging of the photoconductive member as part of shutdown, start-up or sitting idle. Preferably, the photoconductive member is uniformly discharged directly before the toning station which reduces pickup of developer carrier as well as otherwise benefiting the member.
