  • Publication number: 20260204659
Abstract: An interlayer including a binder, nanoparticles, and a carbonaceous material, an anodeless battery including the interlayer, and a method of manufacturing the interlayer are provided. The binder may be soluble in water of non-aqueous organic solvents and is functionalized with moieties including H-bond donors, H-bond acceptors, acids, and/or bases, having at most about 20 mol % of negatively charged moieties, based on a total moles of the binder. The anodeless battery includes the interlayer between a solid-state electrolyte and a current collector. The method includes mixing the carbonaceous material, a redox active compound, and the binder to form a slurry that is applied to a current collector and heat treated to provide the interlayer including the nanoparticles.

  • Publication number: 20260204574
Abstract: An anodeless all-solid-state battery (ASSB) and a method of making the anodeless ASSB are provided. The anodeless ASSB includes: a positive electrode, a negative electrode current collector, a solid-state electrolyte, and an interlayer including at least one additive, a carbonaceous material, and a binder. The additive may include a metal compound, nanoparticles, or a combination thereof, the metal compound may be represented by formula MxAy and the nanoparticles may include a metal represented by M of formula MxAy, x and y are integers independently selected from 1 to 6, M may be silver, zinc, indium, tin, bismuth, magnesium, aluminum, or a combination thereof, and A may be nitrate, sulfate, iodide, chloride, fluoride, or a combination thereof. The interlayer may be substantially free of organic amine compounds. A molar ratio of the metal compound to the nanoparticles may be about 100:1 to about 3:1.

  • Publication number: 20240290950
Abstract: A method for simultaneously forming alkali metal layers includes heating a laminate structure including a top layer, a bottom layer, and an alkali metal layer sandwiched between opposing facing surfaces of the top layer and the bottom layer. The laminate structure is heated to a peel temperature to at least partially melt the alkali metal layer and form a volume of molten alkali metal at the location of a peel site within the alkali metal layer. The top layer and the bottom layer apart from each other such that the alkali metal layer splits internally at the location of the peel site and is divided between the top layer and the bottom layer.
