  • Publication number: 20240409920
Abstract: Recent advances in the understanding of two CRISPR-Cas systems, namely, Type VI (Cas13a-d) and Type III (Type III-A-B), have shown both of them to have the ability to efficiently target RNA. Provided herein are compositions and methods for trans-splicing precursor mRNA using a catalytically-inactive Cas protein (dCas) and a trans-splicing construct comprising a guide RNA, an intron, a splice acceptor, donor RNA, and a poly A tail. The dCas is capable of forming a complex with the guide RNA and directing sequence-specific binding of the complex to a target precursor mRNA for genetic modification and any polypeptides derived thereof. The technology has important potential therapeutic applications such as correcting genetic mutations through exon replacement, insertion of transgenes, and increasing gene expression, and in non-therapeutic applications such as cell- and tissue-specific diagnostics.

  • Patent number: 8322058
Abstract: A telescoping greeting card having a plurality of pockets and/or panels that are connected in sequence and configured to slidably telescope between a closed position wherein each of the pockets and/or panels are contained within a main panel and an open position wherein each of the pockets and/or panels are extended in a longitudinal array. The greeting card additionally contains a switch and a sound module with at least one pre-recorded audio file that may be played back upon removal of one of the panels or pockets of the greeting card, which triggers the switch.

  • Publication number: 20040075700
Abstract: An apparatus and method for informing a monitored internal system status of an electronic device using a screen saver program is disclosed. When the screen saver program is activated (704), a virtual analog clock (706, 106) having a time-varying visual attribute (108, 110, 112) is displayed. The time-varying visual attribute is varied to indicate the status of the monitored internal system status during the time the screen saver program is active.
