  • Publication number: 20100247755
Abstract: The invention provides a method of manufacturing or repairing a coating on a metallic substrate. Production of said coating comprises forming a pre-layer on the substrate or on a sub-layer of the coating placed on the substrate by applying one or more layers of a paint containing at least one metal selected from the group constituted by platinum class metals (platinoids) and chromium. Application to the formation or localized repair of a thermal barrier on a superalloy turbo engine part.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 4, 2010
    Publication date: September 30, 2010

  • Publication number: 20060277753
Abstract: A method of repairing blade members, especially blade members in a turbomachine is provided. In one example, a damaged portion of a blade member is cut away from the blade member, by milling for example. The extent of the cut away portion generally corresponds in size and/or shape to the damaged area. A replacement portion is then welded into place in the resultant void in the blade member. The resulting weld seam is then burnished or deep rolled in order to cold work the blade member material at the weld seam. This induces compressive residual stresses in the blade member that counteract tensile residual stresses in and around the weld seam caused by the welding, and therefore strengthens the resulting repaired structure. The disclosed process particularly useful for repairing bladed disks (bladed monoblock disks) where individual blades cannot be removed for replacement or repair.

  • Publication number: 20030072878
Abstract: At least one gaseous precursor of the deposit to be made comprising an aluminum compound is brought by means of a carrier gas into contact with the surfaces of the part which is placed inside an enclosure. The carrier gas is selected from helium and argon and the pressure inside the enclosure is selected in such a manner that the mean free path of the carrier gas molecules is at least twice as long as that of argon molecules under atmospheric pressure. The method is suitable in particular for aluminizing gas turbine blades that have internal holes and cavities.

  • Publication number: 20030072879
Abstract: At least one gaseous precursor of the deposit to be made and comprising an aluminum compound is brought with the help of a carrier gas into contact with the surfaces of parts placed in an enclosure. The carrier gas is selected from helium and argon, and the pressure inside the enclosure is selected in such a manner that the mean free path of the carrier gas molecules is at lest twice as long as that of argon molecules under atmospheric pressure. The method is particularly suitable for aluminizing a low pressure turbine ring sector of a turbomachine, the sector being provided with an abradable honeycomb coating.
