Abstract: A method and apparatus for gathering strand material from a plurality of sources of strand material comprising a rotatable roll means for pulling the strand material from the sources, primary drive means for rotating the roll means, ring means mounted for rotation coaxially with the roll means and adapted to pull strand material from one or more of the sources, secondary drive means for rotating the ring means at rates independent of the rotation of the roll means, and means for axially moving the ring means into and out of communication with the roll means.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for the initiation of attenuation and collection of a strand by an operator remote from the winder wherein an interim advancement means, a movable member adapted to move the strand from a first zone spaced from a collet to a second zone adjacent the interim advancement means, means for directing the strand into the interim advancement means and an actuator means for moving said strand advancing along the collet into contact with the strand engagement section of the collet cooperate to initiate collection of the strand upon the collet.

Abstract: A cooking oil cleaner and filter system for deep fat fryers which includes a fryer well for containing either cooking oil to be used in frying, and a cooking oil filtration and recirculation assembly connected to the well. The cooking oil filtration and recirculation assembly is substantially cylindrically shaped and includes a filter housing having a cylindrical outer surface connected to and longitudinally aligned with a pump housing also having a cylindrical outer surface and an aligned pump drive motor mounted on the pump housing. A suitable filter medium is disposed within a filter cavity in the filter housing with a foraminous partition extending across the filter cavity intermediate the filter medium and the pump housing. A gear pump is located in the pump housing and is drivingly secured to the pump drive motor output shaft, with the inlet port of the gear pump communicating with the filter cavity and with the outlet port communicating by means of a suitable conduit with the well.

Abstract: The disclosure embraces a method of and apparatus for effecting removal of at least one wound package of linear material, particularly a package of a strand of glass fibers, from a winding collet or mandrel of a winding machine at the completion of a winding cycle.
