  • Patent number: 10769474
Abstract: Embodiments relate a keypoint detection circuit for identifying keypoints in captured image frames. The keypoint detection circuit generates an image pyramid based upon a received image frame, and determine multiple sets of keypoints for each octave of the pyramid using different levels of blur. In some embodiments, the keypoint detection circuit includes multiple branches, each branch made up of one or more circuits for determining a different set of keypoints from the image, or for determining a subsampled image for a subsequent octave of the pyramid. By determining multiple sets of keypoints for each of a plurality of pyramid octaves, a larger, more varied set of keypoints can be obtained and used for object detection and matching between images.

  • Publication number: 20100309975
Abstract: A method and system are provided to encode a video sequence into a compressed bitstream. An encoder receives a video sequence from an image-capture device, together with metadata associated with the video sequence, and codes the video sequence into a first compressed bitstream using the metadata to select or revise a coding parameter associated with a coding operation. Optionally, the video sequence may be conditioned for coding by a preprocessor, which also may use the metadata to select or revise a preprocessing parameter associated with a preprocessing operation. The encoder may itself generate metadata associated with the first compressed bitstream, which may be used together with any metadata received by the encoder, to transcode the first compressed bitstream into a second compressed bitstream.

  • Publication number: 20080084506
Abstract: An apparatus configured to process a digital video signal comprising an input circuit, a processing circuit and an encoder circuit. The input circuit may be configured to present a digital video signal comprising a plurality of frames. The processing circuit may be configured to detect scene changes in the digital video signal by analyzing (i) a current one of the plurality of frames and (ii) two or more other frames. The encoder circuit may be configured to generate an encoded signal in response to the digital video signal and the scene changes. The two or more other frames may comprise (i) a first window of frames that are processed before the current frame and (ii) a second window of frames that are processed after the current frame. The processing circuit may also detect the scene changes by analyzing changes between the first window and the second window.
