  • Publication number: 20070089831
Abstract: A first subassembly is formed with a magnetic stripe and a second subassembly is formed, independently of the first subassembly, with an imaging (holographic) layer. The second subassembly may bonded to the first subassembly by means of a heat activated suited to adhere to the two subassemblies to form an assembly in which an imaging layer overlies a magnetic stripe. Forming the two subassemblies independently of each other enables each subassembly to be formed so as to optimize the components and functions of each subassembly. The second assembly may include a transparent top layer which is scratch and abrasion resistant to protect the underlying imaging layer which may include an embossed layer overlying either a metallic layer or a coating having a high refractive index.
