  • Publication number: 20210243125
Abstract: The present invention relates a system and a method for avoiding congestion in a computer network. Information related to a flow of query data packets in the computer network and a capacity of the computer network is collected for processing. A pattern in the flow of query data packets is determined based on the collected information and a trained data model. The trained data model is used to determine occurrence of an impending connection data burst, in the computer network, which is capable of causing congestion in the computer network. The connection data burst comprises information related to links within routing devices present in the computer network. Upon determining occurrence of the impending connection data burst, parameters configured in the routing devices are modified to avoid the congestion of the computer network by the impending connection data burst.

  • Patent number: 10516599
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a method, system, and device for disabling links within a computer network based on a loop link priority parameter. The method includes detecting a loop in a network in a network communication device having multiple interfaces associated with different priorities. The device may transmit a first network packet as a loop check packet outbound from the network communication device via a first interface port. The device may then receive a second network packet (which may be the first outbound packet returning inappropriately to the device) as an inbound network communication via a second interface port. If the device identifies return of a sent loop check packet, it may disable one of the first interface port or the second interface port based on a comparison of loop link priority parameters to remove the loop in the network.

  • Patent number: 10263809
Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to selecting an optimal network device for reporting flow table misses upon expiry of a flow in a software defined network, comprising. An SDN enabled device is selected, from a plurality of software defined network (SDN) enabled devices, for reporting a flow table miss upon expiry of a flow to an SDN controller, based on a pre-defined factor.

  • Publication number: 20170295074
Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to controlling an unknown flow inflow to an SDN controller in a software defined network (SDN). In an example, an optimizer may be provided, between a switch and an SDN controller, to intercept an unknown flow from the switch to the SDN controller, in a software defined network. A portion of a data packet from each data packet in a plurality of data packets from the unknown flow may be aggregated at the optimizer. Only the aggregated portion of the data packet from each data packet may be sent, from the optimizer to the SDN controller, in a single package.

  • Publication number: 20170288947
Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to restoring a flow path in response to a link failure in a software defined network (SDN). In an example, a backup flow path for a flow may be configured in a network device, on a primary flow path of the flow. In response to determination of a link failure in the primary flow path, the network device configured with the backup flow path may be identified. In an example, the network device may be identified by sending, from a detecting network device that detects the link failure on the primary flow path, a message packet successively to each network device preceding the detecting network device on the primary flow path until the network device configured with the backup flow path is identified. The backup flow path may be used to route packets of the flow.
