  • Publication number: 20130159517
Abstract: A system comprising includes a first node and a second node. The first node includes a first memory storing executable instructions for configuring the first node to receive a service request from a frontend application. The first node identifies a timeout required for processing the service request and sends the service request to a backend application for processing. The second node includes a second memory storing executable instructions for configuring the second node to monitor for a response regarding results of processing of the service request. In response to the timeout for the service request elapsing before receiving a backend application response to the service request, the second node sends a response informing the frontend application from which the service request was received that the backend application has not responded to the service request.

  • Publication number: 20130157622
Abstract: Providing information as to location of a mobile station involves receiving a mobile station location request from a requesting software application at an API gateway of a wireless communications network. The API gateway provides a network-initiated request to the wireless communications network for the location of the mobile station after determining that the requesting application is authorized to receive the location of the specified mobile station. The location of the mobile station can be determined, according to either a coarse or granular location position resolution, or accuracy, based on the request of the application and/or the conditions of the wireless communication network. Information as to location of the mobile station can be produced, and provided to the requesting software application, which can be resident on the mobile station itself or at a different location/platform.

  • Publication number: 20130151377
Abstract: A media store server provides customers' digital information devices with a catalog of multimedia content available from servers of multiple vendors. To provide a unified catalog for the store, the multimedia contents are grouped according to descriptive texts. A descriptive text for a multimedia content item or file is obtained from a vendor's catalog, and the descriptive text is standardized to generate a token for that particular multimedia content item. The multimedia content is classified in an existing catalog group corresponding to an already existent token, if the generated token matches an existent token in the catalog of the media store server. A new group for multimedia content is generated and the particular multimedia content is assigned to the new group, if the generated token does not yet exist in the catalog of the multimedia store server.

  • Publication number: 20130117140
Abstract: A method is presented that enables the viewing of network data consumption from an alternative data plan (ADP) by a mobile device in terms of content. The method includes associating a mobile device, an application and content with an ADP and viewing data consumption in terms of content. A counter may be adjusted each time content associated with the ADP is consumed and the counter may be displayed on the mobile device which may also display data consumption in terms of megabytes (MB). The threshold size for the counter to increment may be preset per the rules of the ADP.

  • Publication number: 20130095787
Abstract: A data transport bundle is presented that is a package of wireless data transport created by a mobile communication network provider. The data transport bundle is available for sale by the mobile communication network provider to enterprises that wish to use wireless data transport. The data transport bundle may include the duration, number of allowed transactions, size associated with each allowed transaction and a price associated with the data transport bundle. The mobile communication network provider may configure the data transport bundle so that it may be partitioned into multiple smaller data transport bundles. In addition, the components of the data transport bundle, such as the duration, number of allowed transactions, and size associated with each allowed transaction may be adjustable to satisfy services for which the enterprise purchases the data transport.

  • Publication number: 20130090139
Abstract: An application service utilizes a single short code for messaging service through a mobile network, even though the one service is actually supported by multiple servers or the like, typically operated by different service providers. In the examples, a third party application service type platform is associated with the common short code of the application service. The third party platform performs intelligent routing/address changes to re-direct mobile station originated messages among the equipment of the service providers. The platform may also provide short code translations of source addresses, during processing of messages directed to mobile stations from the various application servers.

  • Publication number: 20130040681
Abstract: Systems and methods for scheduling wireless communications of a base station with multiple user mobile stations involve grouping the user mobile stations in clusters based on a predetermined criterion, such as a QoS profile of a user mobile station. Each cluster is assigned with a cluster weight factor that defines a priority level of the cluster. For each user mobile station in each cluster, a priority index may be determined based on the cluster weight factor of a respective cluster, and throughput and fairness factors respectively selected to maximize throughput and provide fairness to user mobile stations. The user mobile stations may be served in an order based on their priority indexes.

  • Publication number: 20130030960
Abstract: A method is presented that enables the creation of an alternative data plan by third party enterprises for mobile network end users. The method includes purchasing data transport bundles from one or more network service providers through an exchange, and either alone or with other enterprises, developing the alternative data plan for offer to end-users to consume data transport from the data transport bundle or bundles. The alternative data plan may be offered to the end user for free or the end user may be charged for use of the ADP based on the number of transactions, file type. The ADP may be billed to the user by the network provider or the ADP may be pre-purchased from the creator of the ADP.
