Abstract: A fan receiver assembly (1200) includes a fan receiver (101). The fan receiver includes a rear wall (128) and at least one sidewall (112). At least one deformable clasp (105) is coupled to, and translatable along, the sidewall. The deformable clasp includes at least one latching arm (142) that is pivotable between an axially displaced open position occurring when the latching arm extends beyond a terminal end sidewall and a parallel position occurring when the latching arm is situated between the terminal end and the rear wall. The sidewall defines a d-track (111) having a terminal end (125) and an outward notch (126). A follower situates within the d-track between the deformable clasp and the sidewall. A fan module (102) latches to the fan receiver assembly when the follower situates within the outward notch.

Abstract: A control device connected to a media device can autonomously return the active source input of the media device to a previously selected active source input. Any client device within a network may be able to switch the active source input of the media device to the source input associated with the device so as to deliver media content to the media device. Tor return to the previous active source input generally requires user intervention. However, the control device can store the previous active source input of the media device and then, when the media content is terminated or the client device disconnects from the media device, transmit a source input command that causes the media device to cycle through the plurality of source inputs associated with the media device until the active source input is the previous source input without requiring any user intervention.

Abstract: A control device is used to autonomously program a remote control device based on media device information received from a media device. The control device selects a program code set based on the media device information. The control device transmits a program code set to the remote control device and a test command. The test command causes the remote control device to transmit a program code from the program code set based on the test command. The control device monitors the media device and verifies that the program code associated with the test command controlled the associated function of the media device.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for synchronously rendering audio content by a plurality of network connected speakers. In various embodiments, a media control device may receive media content comprising an audio component, the device may derive and transmit instructions for buffering and rendering the audio component to a plurality of speakers, wherein the instructions include instructions for synchronizing a rendering clock comprised within each of the more than one speakers. The device may transmit the audio component to the more than one speaker of the plurality of speakers; while monitoring status information transmitted by the plurality of speakers; and maintain or restore synchronous rendering of the audio component by the plurality of speakers in response to the status information received from the speakers.

Abstract: A system and method for utilizing a network of Bluetooth devices to determine approximate location of Bluetooth device that was lost or misplaced in vicinity of the network. The network can be constructed from low-energy Bluetooth devices that would otherwise be only periodically active and/or networked for a purpose other than the localization of lost or misplaced devices.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for launching an application or service on a smart media device, such as a smart TV, set top box, or smart phone. An input mechanism, that is responsive to manual gestures of a user, generates signals that control a display associated with the smart media device. A first user gesture causes the processor to generate a menu that includes an image of a plurality of images that correspond to a first plurality of preselected applications and/or services. A second user gesture causes the processor to launch the application or service on the menu that is identified as desired for selection by the user. Preferably, the input mechanism is either a remote control unit, a keyboard, a handheld smart media device, or a smart phone.

Abstract: A method is provided that determines whether to allow an application (app) for use or restrict the app on a set top box (STB). The method includes the steps of measuring at the STB, one or more resources used by the app; comparing at the STB, one or more thresholds set by an operator; and determining if the one or more resources used by the app exceed one or more thresholds set by the operator. Another method is provided that monitors applications (apps) that are installed a set top box (STB) for illegal or harmful activity by a policy manager. This method includes downloading and copying an app from an external source; installing or uninstalling the app into an application folder; providing a notification informing the policy manager of the installing or uninstalling of the app; and evaluating the app be installed or uninstalled.

Abstract: A method and system for providing portions of information content to a client device is presented. The present application provides a manner of personalizing information content for display on handheld or mobile devices. A user may identify sections of a web page as clips, and then request only the identified section instead of the entire web page from a server. Upon receiving the request, the server will load the web page, retrieve the identified section, transform the identified section for display on the client device, and then send the transformed information to the client device. The clip of information is then a live update from a web page that presents the latest content from a web page instead of a cached web page section.

Abstract: Methods and systems for processing document object models (DOM) and to process video content are provided. Information content that is represented by a DOM and that includes a scripting language associated with the information content is received and original content of the DOM is preserved after execution of the scripting language. Further, video content is adapted for client devices. The scripting language associated with the information content can be sent to client device along with a modified DOM and processed video content. Pre-processing of the scripting language occurs to identify nodes related to video, and to maintain all other original nodes, for example.

Abstract: A system and method for using multipart messaging with preset constraints is provided. A device sends a request to a server for information from a website. The server retrieves the information and looks for referenced subdocuments, e.g., images. The server requests the images one-by-one from servers for a predetermined amount of time, or until a predetermined amount of content has been retrieved. Once the limit has been met, the server attaches the images to the document and sends the information to the device. Thus, the server may send a portion of the requested information to the device. The device then sends subsequent page requests for any information that was not received from the server. Using this system, the device can receive a faster first impression of the web page, without a performance delay waiting for all images of the web page to be retrieved and loaded.

Abstract: A method (40, 50) and apparatus (30) for processing a video signal inserts a unique digital signature into the video signal. Thus, rampant duplication or distribution can be traced back to a particular set-top box or receiver. According to one aspect of the present invention, the unique digital signal is inserted into the vertical blanking interval. An apparatus (30) for processing a video signal includes a processor (31) receiving the video signal and outputting a modified video signal having a vertical blanking interval, which includes a digital signature uniquely identifying the processor (31). A memory (33) stores the digital signature and a teletext generator (32) coupled to the memory (33) and the processor (31) and generates a teletext signal that includes the digital signature for insertion into the vertical blanking interval by the processor (31) prior to the processor (31) outputting the video signal.

Abstract: A method for clearing teletext data includes transmitting the teletext to a display device, tracking the transmitted teletext data, generating a representation of the transmitted teletext data, accessing the representation upon a channel change, and instructing the display device to clear the transmitted teletext data according to the accessed representation of the transmitted teletext data.
