  • Publication number: 20170241967
Abstract: A method for detecting a volatile analyte to class and sort cork stoppers depending on concentration of the analyte, detection being performed of concentrations in the order of ng/L (parts per trillion), in a concentrated gas applied to the cork stoppers in closed containment. Under said method, cork stoppers are conveyed individually or groups to an incubation chamber (1); air/nitrogen is injected into the incubation chamber (1), the gas enriched with cork volatile compounds is entrained and carried to the concentration system containing a trap (4) heated by desorption of volatile compounds; the volatile compounds are carried by entraining gas to a detection system (6) recording a signal associated with presence of the analyte, the signal being used for classing the stopper/groups of stoppers; a software receives and compares the signal with a minimum limit, deciding to approve or reject the stopper. A system for implementing this method is described.

  • Publication number: 20170189086
Abstract: A bone plate is asymmetric and includes a straight body and a cross arm. The plate has first and second sides, each with the same structure. The body and cross arm include nodes separated by deformable bridges. Each node defines a screw hole, and wings extending laterally therefrom. The wings taper in thickness between the first and second sides. Screw holes are threaded into the nodes. Each of the first and second sides of the body and cross arm define longitudinal channels in the nodes. The plate can be shaped to the bone by deformation at the bridges or removal of portions of the plate at bridges. A pair of benders, each with clamp bracket and clamping bolt threadedly coupled within a threaded hole of the bracket, is also provided for shaping the plate.

  • Publication number: 20170169182
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a diagnosis are provided. In some aspects, a computing device receives medical information for a patient, wherein each medical information item in the medical information comprises a date, a source, and a medical state. The computing device constructs, in a memory of the computing device, a diagnosis tree for the patient, wherein the diagnosis tree comprises a patient node, the patient node having first children nodes corresponding to the dates or the sources, and the first children nodes having second children nodes corresponding to the medical states. The computing device generates a diagnosis for the patient using the constructed diagnosis tree.

  • Patent number: 9636159
Abstract: The Multi-Thread Iliac Screw represents a novel way to embed fasteners in the ilium by improving fixation of said fasteners in the different parts of the iliac bone tissue. The screw consists of a saddle with a locking screw and fastener with three types of threads to provide a more mechanically stable embedding of the fastener in the iliac bone. The saddle receives a spinal stabilizing rod, which is part of another vertebral mechanical system, and, as such, the saddle provides an anchor point to the stabilizing rod. In another embodiment, the saddle is designed with an integrated rod on its side, which mates to another hollow rod integrated to a cube-shaped connector, thereby replacing the stabilizing rod. The connector provides the interface to the rest of the vertebral mechanical system.

  • Publication number: 20170065287
Abstract: The Infrared Endoscopic Probe represents a new instrument to bore pilot holes in vertebra pedicles while imaging the operation in the infrared spectrum with an integrated fiber optics endoscope. The pilot holes are bored to provide entry points for pedicle screws that serve as anchor points for spine stabilizing rods to treat several spine conditions. The device consists of a metal body that terminates in a tapered incision tip, an endoscope that runs inside said metal body, a handle to drive the device into pedicle boney tissue and a fiber optics harness that enters the device handle and is used to connect to imaging, illumination, irrigation and suction devices to enable the endoscopic functions of the device. The fiber optics harness connects to an imaging camera that provides an electrical signal to a monitor to view the operation in real time. A method is described to accomplish this procedure.

  • Patent number: 9528975
Abstract: This invention describes a method to monitor intrinsic parameters of natural cork stoppers, based on a non-invasive and non-destructive method, e.g. X-Ray spectroscopy, so that objects (stoppers) can be segregated and categorized according to the relation of such parameters with relevant characteristics for the performance of the closure, as, for instance, gas permeability. This invention does also describe how the information about physical and chemical parameters of the cork is processed directly from the data acquired in the production line.

  • Publication number: 20130018887
Abstract: The invention, the Image Viewer system, represents a new way to store and access medical images such as scans and X-rays. The invention is comprised of the web portal design, including the web browser layout, and the software application. A patient's medical images, created during an imaging session, are stored at a central location, a web portal, by medical personnel who catalog and code the images using the software application or a web browser. The images stored at the portal can be accessed by any networked device with a web browser or the software application from any connection to the Internet. The connection to the Internet can be wired or wireless, such as WiFi or cellular. Networked devices include PCs, tablets, laptops and smart phones. Physicians with a network device can retrieve images and enter data in the web portal, including diagnoses and personal information. Patients with a networked device can access the portal to download images or to enter their personal profile.

  • Publication number: 20090266551
Abstract: An internal tree cap having a running configuration and a latched configuration to be selectively secured to a tree spool. The tree cap may include an inner sleeve movable between upper and lower positions. The movement of the inner sleeve to the lower position may simultaneously engage a locking profile within the tree spool and energize a sealing element around the exterior of the tree cap. The tree cap may be a low profile tree cap that is flush with the top of the tree spool when installed. The tree cap may provide a collateral beneficial locking means to secure a tubing hanger within the tree spool. A lower housing may be attached to the tree cap to seal on the exterior of the upper neck of the tubing hanger. The tree cap may include a profile to accept a wireline plug.
