    Abstract: A lifting tool for lifting a rotor associated with a generator so as to allow a rotor bearing to be removed from a bearing pedestal beneath the rotor. The tool includes a semi-circular base portion that is bolted to the bearing pedestal and a pair of jack screws mounted to the base portion. A hydraulic ram is mounted to the base portion between the jack screws and is positioned against the rotor when the tool is bolted to the bearing pedestal. The ram is used to lift the rotor away from the bearing and the jack screws are used to hold the rotor up once it is in the desired location, where the ram is then lowered.

The carriage steering device is adjustable such that a center of the carriage aligns to a center rail of the removal skid when traversing along the removal skid during servicing the rotor.

First (102) and second (103) lugs extend from a back plate (101). A first pin (104) is received within a first lug opening (102C) and within a third opening (408A) in the first member (30A). Similarly a second pin (108) is received within a second lug opening (103A) and within a fourth opening (409A) in the second member (30D). The third (408A) and fourth (409A) openings are proximate respective first (416A) and second (417A) openings. Reducing the distance between the back plate (100) and the first pin (104) displaces the third opening (408A) toward the back plate (100) to align the first (416A) and second (417A) openings.

    Abstract: A gas turbine shaft bearing system (bearing and/or seal component) service method and service tool that applies biasing force between a gas turbine shaft and a bearing system component supporting the shaft, so that the bearing system component can be removed or installed. The bearing system service tool is coupled directly to the bearing system component and the shaft, preferably without the need for external fixtures. A biasing force generator, such as a hydraulic unit applies a force on the bearing system component to cause component movement on or off the shaft. Counter-biasing forces are resisted by the fixed position turbine shaft. By exerting biasing force directly between the turbine shaft and bearing system component the service tool can be constructed of smaller, man portable components that are more easily maneuvered within relatively confined turbine service spaces, which are common in field installations.
