  • Publication number: 20120251479
Abstract: A reduced-odor polyol composition for gastrointestinal lavage of a mammal comprises a polyol and at least one acid salt formed from a reaction between a basic catalyst and citric acid. The reduced-odor polyol composition is produced by providing at least one alkylene oxide; providing at least one initiator; reacting the at least one alkylene oxide with the at least one initiator in the presence of a basic catalyst to produce a polyol; and neutralizing the basic catalyst with citric acid, thereby forming at least one acid salt and producing the reduced-odor polyol composition.

  • Publication number: 20110049052
Abstract: A method inhibits the deposition of silica and/or silicate compounds on a surface in an aqueous system. The method includes the step of adding a polymer to the aqueous system. The polymer comprises the reaction product of a natural oil component and an alkylene oxide. The polymer of the subject invention has a core, comprising a fatty acid or an ester thereof, and a plurality of polymeric side chains bonded to the core. The plurality of polymeric side chains comprise alkyleneoxy groups selected from the group of ethyleneoxy groups, propyleneoxy groups, butyleneoxy groups, and combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 7736525
Abstract: A method of making an alkoxylated polyethyleneimine (APEI) product having reduced discoloration includes treating a composition including a component selected from the group of polyethyleneimine (PEI), APEI intermediate, and combinations thereof that is used to make the APEI product. The method of treating the composition includes heating a composition that includes an adduct of a conjugate base and PEI, water, and the component at a temperature of from 158 to 338° F. for a period of at least three hours in the absence of additional water in order to substantially decompose the adduct in the composition. The aqueous solutions of APEI product thus made have Gardner color values of less than 6.

  • Patent number: 6191315
Abstract: Most generally, the invention provides a method for making a neutralized polyether polyol, comprising the steps of a) Polymerizing one or more alkylene oxides in the presence of an alkaline catalyst to form a polyalkylene oxide intermediate; and b) Neutralizing the intermediate, after the polymerization step a) is complete, with an organic acid of general formula where R1 is hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; R2 is methyl or ethyl; and R3 is an alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl group containing one to twelve carbon atoms. The invention also comprises the novel compositions made by the above process.
