Patent number: 10279608Abstract: In wide format web printing the loading of a new web medium is a cumbersome process, requiring the operator to raise a very wide flexible web from the supply roll up to the print surface. The present invention provides a simple apparatus to aid in the manual loading process. The web transport assembly of the apparatus comprises a supply unit arranged for supplying the web from a media roll to a transport path and a pick-up device comprising a pick-up surface and a holding mechanism configured for releasably holding a leading edge section of the web onto the pick-up surface, wherein the pick-up device is moveable between a first position near the supply unit for attaching the leading edge section and a second position near the print surface. The leading edge section is moved upwards towards the print surface while held by the holding mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2017Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: OCÉ HOLDING B.V.Inventors: Romeo Musete, Michael Nell, Chad A. Koehn, Anne A. Wind, Brian D. Otter

Patent number: 10046580Abstract: A mounting structure for a plurality of print head units includes a frame; a rigid support mounted on the frame, the support having a plurality of mounting sites each of which is adapted to hold an individual print head unit; and an adjusting system for positional adjustment of the print head units relative to the frame. Each mounting site has at least one adjusting mechanism for individually adjusting, in at least one degree of freedom, a position of the print head unit that is held in that mounting site.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2016Date of Patent: August 14, 2018Assignee: OCE-TECHNOLOGIES B.V.Inventors: Maarten J. H. Elferink, Chad A. Koehn

Patent number: 9592685Abstract: An inkjet printing apparatus includes an inkjet print head arranged to be moveable in a direction of movement along a guiding assembly. The guiding assembly includes a support structure; a strip mounted on the support structure, the strip being substantially rigid and straight in a first direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of movement and mounted in such way that a straightness in the direction of movement is provided; and an air bearing system operatively coupled to the strip. The strip extends in a vertical plane, the vertical plane being substantially parallel to the direction of movement and being substantially parallel to the first direction. The air bearing system is configured to control a position of the inkjet print head in a horizontal plane relative to the strip during movement of the print head in the direction of movement, the horizontal plane being substantially perpendicular to the vertical plane.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2016Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: OCE-TECHNOLOGIES B.V.Inventors: Brandon Rigio, Brian D. Otter, Ryan C. Bryde, Michael P. Hoy, Chad A. Koehn

Patent number: 7771041Abstract: A medium support member has a first surface for supporting a print medium and a second surface opposite to said first surface. The medium support member includes a plurality of recesses formed in the first surface and a plurality of protrusions formed in the second surface such that each recess has an associated protrusion opposite thereto. Each recess has an air passage connecting the recess with an interprotrusional space formed between the protrusions. A printing system includes a device for image-wise application of marking material to a print medium, base member and the medium support member. A method of forming the medium support member includes supporting a sheet of base material, pressing a first punch to form the recess and the protrusion in the sheet of base material, and pressing a second punch such that a perforation is applied into the sheet of base material.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2006Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: Océ-Technologies B.V.Inventors: Chad A.
