Publication number: 20240169521Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing computed tomography (CT) scans using different detector materials within a single CT system. In one embodiment, a CT system comprises a hybrid detector assembly coupled to a rotatable portion of a gantry of the CT system, the hybrid detector assembly including a plurality of detector arrays, the detector arrays separated along a direction parallel to an axis of motion of a table of the CT system, each detector array of the plurality of detector arrays including a different detector material. The hybrid detector assembly may be mounted on a translation mechanism configured to allow a position of the hybrid detector assembly to change within the rotatable portion of the gantry between a first acquisition of projection data and a second acquisition of projection data, to center an x-ray tube on a detector array of the hybrid detector assembly having a desired detector material.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2022Publication date: May 23, 2024Inventors: Brian E Nett, Jonathan S Maltz, Chad A Smith, Brandon A. Publication number: 20240156422Abstract: Various systems are provided for a head and/or extremity holder for a medical imaging system. In one example, the head and/or extremity holder is a cradle interface pad for use with an imaging system, the cradle interface pad comprising a first wall on a first side and a second wall on a second side, opposite the first side, wherein the first wall and the second wall form a concave recess of the cradle interface pad, at least one slot extending through each of the first wall and the second wall, a curved base coupling the first wall and the second wall, at least one attachment point mounted on each of the first wall and the second wall and extending towards the curved base, and a handle positioned on a top face of each of the first wall and the second wall.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2022Publication date: May 16, 2024Inventors: Chelsey Amanda Lewis, Michelle Marie Severino DeLong Samalik, Matthew J. Evangelist, Chad A. Smith, Brian E. Nett

Publication number: 20240156408Abstract: Various systems are provided for a support assembly for a medical imaging system. In one example, a system comprising, a support assembly for use with an imaging system, the support assembly comprising, a cradle including a base and opposing sidewalls, and a plurality of pads shaped to seat against the base within an opening formed between the opposing sidewalls, where each pad of the plurality of pads supports a head or extremity of a subject to be imaged at a different angle relative to the base.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2022Publication date: May 16, 2024Inventors: Chelsey Amanda Lewis, Michelle Marie Severino DeLong Samalik, Matthew J. Evangelist, Chad A. Smith, Brian E. Nett

Patent number: 11219419Abstract: The present invention relates to a gantry of a CT scanning device comprising: a first housing having a first bore; a second housing having a second bore, disposed opposite to the first housing, wherein there is a gap between the first bore and the second bore, as a ray scanning bore; a scan window assembly comprising an annular window body having an inner surface and an outer surface, the scan window assembly being engaging-locked with the first housing and the second housing and sealing and covering the ray scanning bore. In this way, the engaging-lock can restrict deformation of the annular window body when an external force is applied on the scan window assembly, and the sealing can prevent liquid in the first and second housing from leaking out and prevent liquid inside the scan window assembly from leaking into the first and second housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2019Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Xiaoyan Zhang, Chad A Smith, Yan Guo Yang, Kiyomi Abeshima

Patent number: 10406874Abstract: A fifth wheel trailer lock for preventing a fifth wheel release handle from being operated to unlock a fifth wheel of a load hauler from a load supported by the fifth wheel. The fifth wheel trailer lock generally includes a handle mount that mounts on and releasably locks to a fifth wheel release handle in a predetermined orientation, a lock extension that extends outwardly from the handle mount into proximity with a stationary structure of the fifth wheel, and a fifth wheel catch on the lock extension adapted to engage the stationary structure of the fifth wheel when an attempt is made to operate the release handle. The engagement of the stationary structure of the fifth wheel by the fifth wheel catch prevents the release handle from being operated to unlock the fifth wheel from the supported load.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2017Date of Patent: September 10, 2019Inventors: Roger D. McKelvey, Chad A. Smith
