  • Patent number: 10703131
Abstract: A non-PVC film and film laminate includes a first layer including a polyurethane, a polyurethane-acrylic copolymer, a polyurethane-acrylic blend, and a urethane-acrylic hybrid polymer; and a second layer including a non-polyvinylchloride (non-PVC) based polymer. The film and laminate may be suitable for use in marketing, advertising campaigns, particularly outdoor or other environment impacted promotions, and safety applications. The film and laminate may be transparent, translucent, clear or have other desirable optical properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 16, 2013
Date of Patent: July 7, 2020
    Assignee: Avery Dennison Corporation
Inventors: Sujith Chacko, Frank Y. Shih, Chad Cummings
  • Patent number: 10400232
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide at least one polymer covalently conjugated to an esterase. The at least one polymer includes a plurality of oxime functional groups.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 2014
Date of Patent: September 3, 2019
    Assignee: Carnegie Mellon University
Inventors: Alan J. Russell, Hironobu Murata, Chad Cummings, Richard R. Koepsel
  • Patent number: 9539338
Abstract: Using a novel water-soluble, active ester amide-containing functionalized controlled radical polymerization initiator, stimuli responsive polymers have been grown from the surface of a protein, exemplified by chymotrypsin or any protein having surface amino acids that will covalently bind to the active ester amide-containing functionalized initiator. It is shown that changes in temperature or pH can change the conformation of the polymer surrounding the enzyme, which in turn enabled the rational tailoring of enzyme activity and stability. This method has afforded an increase in the activity and stability of the enzyme by an order of magnitude at pH's where the enzyme is usually inactive or unstable. Multimodal temperature responsive protein-block copolymer conjugates are described.
