  • Publication number: 20260071681
Abstract: A method for making a press-fit seal which inhibits leak paths between a press-fit joint. An annular metal insert is formed with a cylindrical outer surface. A sealing element is molded to the annular metal insert that includes a main seal lip configured to interface with an outside cylindrical surface of a shaft or hub. Coating material is applied to the cylindrical outer surface of the annular metal insert by either adhering the material to the surface with adhesive or heat shrinking the material to fix to the surface of the annular metal insert to fill-in potential deformities of the cylindrical outer surface of the annular metal insert that could cause a leak path.

  • Publication number: 20120187638
Abstract: A gasket is formed using a plurality of compression limiting inserts each having first and second surfaces, and at least one edge disposed between the first and second surfaces with an elastomeric sealing material bonded thereto. Opposite ends of each of the compression limiting inserts are aligned with, and spliced to, adjacent ones of the compression limiting inserts by the elastomeric sealing material. The plurality of compression limiting inserts are aligned to form a completed gasket.

  • Patent number: 7508198
Abstract: A shaft assembly, includes an elongated shaft and a flywheel mounted to an end of the shaft. An encoder is mounted to the shaft and includes an annular support ring having a radially inwardly extending portion and an axially extending portion extending from a radially outer end of the radially inwardly extending portion. The radially inwardly extending portion defines a spring section which is compressed between the flywheel and the end of the shaft, and an encoder material is disposed on the axially extending portion of the annular support ring.
