  • Patent number: 8081933
Abstract: A reconfigurable radio communications system is disclosed. The system comprises a digital data bus, a control bus, and first and second reconfigurable radio communication units responsive to the digital data bus and the control bus. Each of the first and second reconfigurable radio communication units further include a first and a second multifunction radio transceiver, with the first reconfigurable radio communication unit responsive to at least a first antenna, and the second reconfigurable radio communication unit responsive to at least a second antenna. Each of the first and the second multifunction radio transceivers of the first and the second reconfigurable radio communication units are operable to simultaneously transmit and receive data on at least two separate channels from different frequency bands.

  • Patent number: 7945229
Abstract: A transceiver apparatus comprising a software-definable-radio-transceiver architecture. The transceiver apparatus comprises at least one up-conversion path including at least one configurable micro-electro-mechanical-system (MEMS) transmit filter communicatively coupled to transmit output from a digital-to-analog converter to an antenna, and at least one down-conversion path including at least one configurable-MEMS-receive filter communicatively coupled to transmit signals received from the antenna to an analog-to-digital converter. The at least one configurable-MEMS-transmit filter prevents interference on the up-conversion path from signals transmitted from the antenna. The at least one configurable-MEMS-receive filter prevents interference on the down-conversion path from signals transmitted to the antenna. A plurality of upconversion and downconversion paths can operate simultaneously and on different channel frequencies.

  • Patent number: 7894779
Abstract: An apparatus for transmitting and receiving multiple radio frequencies simultaneously over a single antenna is provided. The apparatus comprises a transmitter signal combining apparatus configured to communicatively couple with a plurality of transmitters, wherein the transmitter signal combining apparatus is configured to output a transmission signal based on any signals received from the plurality of transmitters. The apparatus also includes at least one transmit/receive signal duplexer coupled to the transmitter signal combining apparatus and configured to provide the transmission signal to an antenna, wherein the antenna receives an incoming radio frequency (RF) signal. Additionally, the apparatus includes a signal separation apparatus coupled to the at least one transmit/receive signal duplexer and configured to receive the incoming RF signal and provide the incoming RF signal to at least one receiver.

  • Patent number: 6278400
Abstract: Two discrete transmit/receive (T/R) channels are implemented in a single common T/R module package having the capability of providing combined functions, control and power conditioning while utilizing a single multi-cavity, multi-layer substrate comprised of high or low temperature cofired ceramic layers. The ceramic layers have outer surfaces including respective metallization patterns of ground planes and stripline conductors as well as feedthroughs or vertical vias formed therein for providing three dimensional routing of both shielded RF and DC power and logic control signals so as to configure, among other things, a pair of RF manifold signal couplers which are embedded in the substrate and which transition to a multi-pin blind mate press-on RF connector assembly at the front end of the package.
