Publication number: 20210088564Abstract: Systems and methods for authenticating, authorizing, and/or accounting for a power-consuming device to access a power source are described. A power access controller can manage the power source and authenticate and/or authorize the power-consuming device to access the power source based on, for example, a power profile of the power-consuming device. The power profile can indicate categories of devices for the power-consuming device, the manufacturer of the power-consuming device, and/or the device's expected power consumption. Accounting of an amount of power consumed by the power-consuming device can also be performed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2020Publication date: March 25, 2021Inventors: Marcus Haebler, Chad Frederick

Publication number: 20140358883Abstract: The construction of a semantically associated computer search database is disclosed. A text catalog containing the text particulars and contents of a plurality of electronic documents, a term association database which joins text search terms with their semantic meanings or definitions, and a content association database which contains records associating text search terms and their contextual definitions in respect of individual electronic documents are used to in conjunction provide a text index in which it is possible to search based upon the actual definitions or meanings of certain text or terms within the electronic documents, reducing or refining query search result sets. A method of operating a search engine with the index in question, as well as other e-commerce methods employing the index as a refining tool are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2014Publication date: December 4, 2014Applicant: SEMANTI INC.Inventors: Bruce JOHNSON, Chad FREDERICK, Scott MONTGOMERIE, Allen YEE, Reginald CHERAMY

Publication number: 20100223242Abstract: File systems which provide several different and improved locking capabilities. An application on a client workstation communicates through a client driver to a server which interfaces with a metadata database, which contains locking information about the files. Applications perform as normal. The client driver provides lock and unlock requests to the server when a write lock or a read with intent to write lock is required. If only a read lock is considered appropriate, the client driver does not provide a lock request. The server transparently performs read operations and read locking using the metadata database without specific requests from the client driver. When a read with intent to write or write lock is required, the lock ownership is placed with a given expiration time. When the time expires the lock is not automatically released but remains with the particular requesting client driver until another client driver requests it.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: SIMDESK TECHNOLOGIESInventors: Chad Frederick Jones, John M. Eastman, JR., John Thomas White, JR., Charles G. Mattair, JR.

Publication number: 20060265713Abstract: A usage metering system for determining computer resource utilization is described herein. Computer resource utilization is determined by accumulating instances of computer resource utilization based on array of counters. This enables an accurate determination of instances of when a predetermined threshold baseline of computer resource utilization is exceeded over an accumulated period of time. By using an array of counters to collect data rather than averaging values over time, a more accurate indication of computer resource utilization is determined. The usage metering system has little impact on computer system resources, because snapshots can be taken on a fairly infrequent basis, and any computer resource utilization calculations can be performed on computer platforms separated from the system being monitored.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2005Publication date: November 23, 2006Inventors: Kenneth Depro, Chad Frederick, Nicholas Luzeski
