  • Patent number: 9015788
Abstract: Various embodiments related to the generation and provision of media metadata are disclosed. For example, one disclosed embodiment provides a computing device having a logic subsystem configured to execute instructions, and a data holding subsystem comprising instructions stored thereon that are executable by the processor to receive an input of a video and/or audio content item, and to compare the content item to one or more object descriptors each representing an object for locating within the content item to locate instances of one or more of the objects in the content item. The instructions are further executable to generate metadata for each object located in the video content item, and to receive a validating user input related to whether the metadata generated for a selected object is correct.

  • Patent number: 8640163
Abstract: The determination of similarities between users in an online entertainment environment is disclosed. For example, one disclosed embodiment comprises a method of operating an entertainment server, wherein the method includes receiving user information that comprises user demographic information and user media selection information from each user of a plurality of users. For a current user, a plurality of similarity values are determined that each quantifies a similarity of the current user to another user based upon similarities between the user information of the current user and the user information of the other user. Then, the method comprises determining a list of other users to present to the current user based upon the similarity values determined, and sending the list of other users to the current user.

  • Patent number: 8583725
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed that relate to social context for inter-media objects. One embodiment provides a method comprising receiving preference data indicating user preferences of each of the plurality of socially networked users regarding the inter-media object, and aggregating the preference data across the social graph to form social graph aggregate data. The method further comprises providing the content item to a selected user of the plurality of socially networked users, and based upon a location of the selected user within the social graph, generating a selected set of the social graph aggregate data for the inter-media object from the social graph aggregate data for the selected user. The method further comprises providing to the selected user a representation of social context for the inter-media object based on the selected set of the social graph aggregate data.

  • Patent number: 7737354
Abstract: A “Concatenative Synthesizer” applies concatenative synthesis to create a musical output from a database of musical notes and an input musical score (such as a MIDI score or other computer readable musical score format). In various embodiments, the musical output is either a music score, or an analog or digital audio file. This musical output is constructed by evaluating the database of musical notes to identify sets of candidate notes for each note of the input musical score. An “optimal path” through candidate notes is identified by minimizing an overall cost function through the candidate notes relative to the input musical score. The musical output is then constructed by concatenating the selected candidate notes. In further embodiments, the database of musical notes is generated from any desired musical genre, performer, performance, or instrument. Furthermore, notes in the database may be modified to better fit notes of the input musical score.
