  • Patent number: 8873041
Abstract: Raman spectrometers are provided that illuminate a sample with two or more different beams of light, each characterized by a different primary frequency. Scattered light from the sample is separated into multiple Raman spectra, one for each primary frequency. The multiple Raman spectra can be evaluated individually, or they can be added together to form a composite spectrum that is then evaluated.

  • Patent number: 8300220
Abstract: A probe using integrated confocal reflectance imaging, confocal Raman spectroscopy, and gross spatial imaging for non-invasiveIy evaluating a target of interest of a living subject. In one embodiment, the probe includes a casing with first and second ends, and first, second and third optical pons The firsi and second optical ports are located at the first end of the casing and the third optical port is located at the second end of the casing such that the first and third optical ports define a first optical path therebetween and the second and third optical ports define a second optical path therebetween, respectively. Each optical path has first and second portions, where the second portions of the first and second optical paths arc substantially overlapped and proximal to the third optical port.

  • Publication number: 20080154257
Abstract: A system and method for opto-acoustic tissue and lesion assessment in real time on one or more of the following tissue characteristics: tissue thickness, lesion progression, lesion width, steam pop, and char formation, system includes an ablation element, laser delivery means, and an acoustic sensor. The invention involves irradiating tissue undergoing ablation treatment to create acoustic waves that have a temporal profile which can be recorded and analyzed by acoustic sampling hardware for reconstructing a cross-sectional aspect of the irradiated tissue. The ablation element (e.g.
