    Abstract: A receptacle for a piezoelectric medical acoustic sensor comprises a lower skin side layer of a sound transmitting conformable material, preferably provided with an adhesive for attachment to the skin of a patient, and an outer sound deadening layer of an elastic foam material which prevents the transmission of room noise to the sensor. The outer layer is adhered to the skin side layer to form a pocket and the elastic properties of the outer layer hold the sensor in close acoustic contact with the skin side layer to improve the signal to noise ratio for the sensor.
