  • Patent number: 12006088
Abstract: In some embodiments, an RFID label rejecting system includes an imager for scanning an RFID label, and a label removal component for discarding an inoperable RFID label. The label removal component may include a paddle configured to receive the inoperable label as part of the removal process. The label removal component may include a retraction system configured to position the paddle in an ejection path of the label rejection system to receive a rejected label. The label removal component may include a removable liner on the paddle configured to receive the rejected label and to be discarded with the rejected label. The label removal component may include a pressurized gas system configured for ejecting a rejected label.

  • Patent number: 7871009
Abstract: Maintaining faulty radio frequency identification (RFID) labels on a surface of a web carrier. The various embodiments of the invention provide apparatus for controlling whether RFID labels are separated from a label web. In one embodiment, a frame has first and second side members, and a peel bar is mounted between the first and second side members. The peel bar has a radial portion that causes an RFID label to be separated from the surface of the web carrier as the web carrier contacts and travels over the radial portion. A cam bar is mounted on the frame and is rotatable. In a first position the cam bar causes the web carrier to contact and travel at least partially around the radial portion of the peel bar, and in a second position the cam bar prevents the web carrier from contacting and traveling at least partially around the radial portion of the peel bar.

  • Publication number: 20060081708
Abstract: A method and apparatus for accepting operative RFID labels for application to an object, and for rejecting inoperative labels. The RFID labels are peelably adhered to a carrier web. When operative, the RFID label produces a response to an input signal. A tranceiver produces the input and is responsive to the output to activate a peeler. The peeler is pivotally mounted for rotation between an extended position and a retracted position. When extended, the peeler engages the web to separate the RFID label therefrom in response to the RFID output. When retracted, the peeler disengages the web whereby the RFID label remains adhered thereto.
