  • Publication number: 20180160971
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and use of the device for detection and loosening of implants installed into a subject's host bone, the device comprising: a frame for encircling and demountably engaging a portion of the subject's appendage comprising the host bone with installed implant; and at least three-spaced apart attachments engaged with the frame, wherein each attachment is configured to house and to retractably deploy a sharp geometry component for contacting the host bone, wherein a temporary reference frame is created when the three-spaced apart attachments contact the host bone. The use of the device comprises obtaining a first pair of stereo radiographs of the implant under a first loading condition and obtaining a second pair of stereo radiographs of the implant and host bone area under the second loading condition and comparing the two radiographs to detect displacement of the implant.

  • Publication number: 20170273614
Abstract: Diagnostic systems and methods for measuring and assessing spine instability are described which involve reconstruction of a dynamic three-dimensional model of a patient's spine moving through a range of motions, and optimization of the three-dimensional model to provide relative three-dimensional position and orientation data for each vertebra in the spine throughout the motion. Vertebral movement is thereby accurately measured and instability determined for presentation in a user-friendly form.

  • Patent number: 9050396
Abstract: The invention comprises a modified implant useful to assess bone by imaging. The modified implant comprises a medical implant and at least one detectable marker element associated with the implant that serves as a reference point in medical imaging. Preferably, the implant and the detector marker elements have different radiolucencies such that one element can be seen through the other in medical imaging.

  • Publication number: 20060217727
Abstract: A bone screw having a threaded shaft 15 which has a thread having an outer diameter DA, a frontal thread end and a thread profile. The thread profile has a frontal thread flank which is directed towards the frontal thread end 4, a rear thread flank 18 and a flank angle ?. The thread is multipath, preferably a double path thread where each thread path has a blade-type element with a cutting edge on the frontal thread end. The bone screw 1 also has a longitudinal axis 2. For accommodating a guide wire, the bone screw 1 is provided with a central borehole 9, which is coaxial with its longitudinal axis 2.

  • Publication number: 20060135960
Abstract: The invention relates to a bone screw having a longitudinal axis and a threaded shaft which has an external thread of an external diameter DA, a front thread end and a thread profile. The thread profile has a front thread flank that is oriented towards the front thread end. The front thread flank comprises a flank section that has a 90° offset in relation to the front thread flank, thereby forming a tangential cutting edge on the front thread end.
