The entry adapter includes a frequency band rejection device electrically connected to the first splitter, and configured to allow the external signals to proceed therethrough to a plurality of third ports, and to block the client signals from proceeding therethrough to the first port. The entry adapter also includes a second splitter electrically connected to the frequency band rejection device and the plurality of third ports, and configured to distribute the external signals received from the frequency band rejection device to the plurality of third ports. The external signals do not proceed through the second splitter.

The adapter also includes frequency band separation and blocking means for separating the client signals from the external signals based on the client signals having a higher frequency than the external signals, allowing the external signals to be conducted to only the server interface, allowing the client signals to be conducted through the second port means and the third port means, blocking the client signals from being conducted to the external network, and allowing the client signals to be conducted between the server interface and the client interface.

The internal network signals are in the high frequency band network signal range, and the downstream and upstream network signals are in the low frequency band network signal range. The signal splitter is configured to allow a first reduced signal-strength network signal copy to be communicated to a primary network port and allow a second reduced signal-strength network signal copy to be communicated to a secondary network port.

The low pass terminal is electrically connected to input port. The entry device includes a first port electrically connected to the common terminal, and a first splitter electrically connected to the high pass terminal. The entry device includes MoCA ports, each connected to an output terminal of the first splitter. The first splitter is configured to bidirectionally communicate MOCA signals between the MoCA ports. The diplexer and the first splitter are configured to bidirectionally communicate the MoCA signals between each of the MoCA ports and the first port. The diplexer is configured to prevent the MoCA signals from being communicated to the input port.

    Abstract: A cable television (CATV) entry adapter connects to a CATV network and serves as a hub in an In-Home Entertainment (IHE) network. IHE signals may be communicated between passive and active ports of an embodiment of the entry adapter through a pair of directional couplers which allow an IHE-enabled embedded multimedia terminal device (eMTA) at the passive port to communicate with multimedia devices of the IHE network connected to the active ports. An IHE frequency rejection filter is used in some embodiments to confine IHE signal to a single subscriber premise. In some embodiments a bidirectional IHE bandpass filter is used to enable IHE signals to pass between the passive and active ports of the CATV entry adapter.
