Patent number: 10582160Abstract: An entry device includes an entry port configured to receive cable television (CATV) signals from a headend. The entry device also includes a filter connected to the entry port. The entry device also includes a plurality of first output ports and a plurality of second output ports. The entry device also includes a first path connecting the filter to the first output ports. The first path is configured to have the CATV signals and multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) signals pass bidirectionally therethrough. The entry device also includes a second path connecting the filter to the second output ports. The second path is configured to have the MoCA signals pass bidirectionally therethrough and to block the CATV signals from passing therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2018Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: PPC BROADBAND, INC.Inventors: Paul Bailey, Yan Li, Chad Wells

Patent number: 8589997Abstract: A community access or cable television (CATV) entry adapter interfaces a CATV network to subscriber devices at a subscriber premises. The CATV entry adapter is remotely disabled or enabled through the CATV network to prevent or allow downstream CATV signals from reaching subscriber devices connected to the adapter. The CATV entry adapter is also adapted to function as a hub in a MoCA network independently of whether the CATV entry adapter is disabled or enabled.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2011Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: PPC Broadband, Inc.Inventor: Chad Wells

Publication number: 20130081096Abstract: A cable television (CATV) entry adapter is disclosed which provides a means and method for transmitting upstream CATV requests to a CATV network without using an active upstream CATV signal path. The disclosed CATV entry adapter includes a transceiver that converts local-area network (LAN) signals to radio-frequency (RF) signals of an in-home entertainment (IHE) signal bandwidth, and vice versa. The LAN-to RF transceiver couples a LAN signal transmission path and an IHE signal transmission path within the entry adapter. The LAN-to RF transceiver converts IHE signals with encoded upstream CATV requests to LAN signals that include the upstream CATV requests. The LAN signals with upstream CATV requests can then be delivered to a cable modem for conversion into passive upstream CATV signals that include the encoded upstream CATV requests. The entry adapter can then deliver the passive upstream CATV signals with encoded upstream CATV requests to the CATV network.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2011Publication date: March 28, 2013Applicant: JOHN MEZZALINGUA ASSOCIATES, INC.Inventors: Chad Wells, John Egan, SR.
