  • Patent number: 9728667
Abstract: A device that detects single optical and radiation events and that provides improved blue detection efficiency and lower dark currents than prior silicon SSPM devices. The sensing element of the devices is a photodiode that may be used to provide single photon detection through the process of generating a self-sustained avalanche. The type of diode is called a Geiger photodiode or signal photon-counting avalanche diode. A CMOS photodiode can be fabricated using a “buried” doping layer for the P-N junction, where the high doping concentration and P-N junction is deep beneath the surface, and the doping concentration at the surface of the diode may be low. The use of a buried layer with a high doping concentration compared to the near surface layer of the primary P-N junction allows for the electric field of the depletion region to extend up near the surface of the diode. With a low doping concentration through the bulk of the diode, the induced bulk defects are limited, which may reduce the dark current.

  • Patent number: 7369850
Abstract: A system and method in a connectivity user interface of a mobile device that enables a user to inspect and select a connection from among available network connections and methods of connecting. If the user alternatively wants a connection to be automatically selected by the device, the connectivity user interface allows the user to verify the connection that will be made when required. An easily accessible connectivity dialog displays configured connections, and connection data. Before a connection is established, the connection data may describe a type of connection, such as the telephone number for a dial-up connection. After a connection is established, the connection data may describe the connection's status, such as the amount of time the connection has been in use. A link in the connectivity user interface enables the user to efficiently configure or reconfigure a connection.

  • Patent number: 7337308
Abstract: Described is a method and system for initiating configuration of a modem connected to a mobile device. The system and method provide a mechanism for guiding a user through the setup process in order to simplify the user's connectivity to a network using the modem. In one embodiment, the mechanism monitors for when a modem is connected to the mobile device. When a modem is connected for the first time, the mobile device launches a wizard utility that directs the user's configuration of the connected modem. The user is able to choose from performing an initial configuration of the modem, or migrating settings of a previously connected modem to establish the connected modem's settings. Thus, the user is guided through the configuration process, increasing the discoverability of the modem and simplifying its setup for the user.

  • Publication number: 20070203954
Abstract: A unique system and method that facilitates synchronizing data across multiple accounts at about the same time is provided. The system and method involve configuring an intelligent set of synchronization rules that can apply to various data types from one or more user accounts or storage locations. In addition, the system or method can leverage off of existing search folders or search queries to configure the synchronization rules.

  • Publication number: 20060106937
Abstract: Described is a method and system for downloading information to a mobile device. The system and method provide a mechanism for selectively identifying the type of information that can be downloaded to the mobile device. In one embodiment, the mechanism includes a user interface resident on the mobile device that allows user selection of the type of information. Alternatively, the mechanism includes a profile maintained on a server. The profile identifies the type of information, such as a file extension, that a particular mobile device supports. In addition, the type of information may be based on a file size associated with the information. Once the type of information is identified, the server downloads the identified type of information to the mobile device without downloading undesired types of information. Thus, the synchronization session is efficiently managed so that undesired information is not downloaded to the mobile device.
