  • Patent number: 5248445
Abstract: A conditioning shampoo containing an anionic surfactant, a long-chain fatty acid, and a non-volatile silicone material has extended product stability, excellent cleansing and foaming properties, and provides excellent and improved overall conditioning to human hair, particularly superior wet and dry combing properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 1992
Date of Patent: September 28, 1993
    Assignee: Helene Curtis, Inc.
    Inventors: Riaz Rizvi, Chaitanya Patel
  • Patent number: 5154847
Abstract: An antidandruff shampoo composition includes a suspension composition for particulate matter to achieve an unexpected reduction in shampoo separation while maintaining acceptable shampoo viscosities and foaming levels. The suspension composition includes a suspending alkanolamide and/or a wax ester in conjunction with an ethylene-maleic anhydride resin or a polyacrylic acid resin to yield anionic surfactant-based antidandruff shampoos or improved stability and aesthetics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 1991
Date of Patent: October 13, 1992
    Assignee: Helene Curtis, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4719104
Abstract: A human hair conditioner and methods are disclosed. The conditioner consists essentially of an aqueous composition containing 0.25-4 percent static-reducing agent, 0.05-1.0 percent cationic film-forming polymer that contains a plurality of quaternary nitrogen atoms, and 0.25-4 percent distearyldimethylammonium salt, wherein the weight ratio of the static-reducing agent to the cationic polymer is about 2:1 to about 20:1.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 3, 1986
Date of Patent: January 12, 1988
    Assignee: Helene Curtis, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4678475
Abstract: A dialkyl quaternary ammonium compound falling within the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different straight chain alkyl radicals C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 wherein n is predominantly at least 12, and particularly where n equals predominantly 12-16, unexpectedly prevents Ext. D & C Violet No. 2 dye from staining skin while providing better deposition of the Ext. D & C Violet No. 2 onto human hair and wool to decrease or eliminate hair and wool yellowing. These fatty radicals R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are generally derived from coconut oil, lauric acid, myristic acid, or palmitic acid and An.sup.- is any anion, particularly the halogen ions and particularly the chloride ion.
