  • Patent number: 11401835
Abstract: An apparatus and method for diffusing an airflow in a turbine engine can include a turbine center frame positioned between a high pressure turbine and a low pressure turbine of a turbine section of the engine. The turbine center frame can include two or more diffusion sections for diffusing the airflow. A stabilization section can be provided between the two or more diffusion sections to stabilize the airflow.

  • Patent number: 9574567
Abstract: A supersonic compressor rotor and method of compressing a fluid is disclosed. The rotor includes a first and a second rotor disk, a first set and a second set of rotor vanes. The first set and second set of rotor vanes are coupled to and disposed between the first and second rotor disks. Further, the first set of rotor vanes are offset from the second set of rotor vanes. The rotor includes a first set of flow channels defined by the first set of rotor vanes disposed between the first and second rotor disks. Similarly, the rotor includes a second set of flow channels defined by the second set of rotor vanes disposed between the first and second rotor disks. Further, the rotor includes a compression ramp disposed on a rotor vane surface opposite to an adjacent rotor vane surface.

  • Publication number: 20120163969
Abstract: A turbine includes an inner casing, a rotor extending in a longitudinal direction, and rows of buckets transversely disposed on the rotor. A bearing cone covering a portion of the rotor and a flow guide extending from the inner casing define an annular passage for flow of exhaust gases. Exhaust gas movement is facilitated by a guide cap having a streamlined surface and situated in a downstream direction of the flow guide, a tip leakage flow injection channel to inject exhaust gases at the inner surface of the flow guide, an incline of the casing of the turbine surrounding the last stage buckets relative to the longitudinal axis, or use of a first portion of the annular passage with a substantially constant surface area and a second portion of the annular passage with a progressively increasing surface area.
