  • Patent number: 9718162
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for grinding a compression line spring. The apparatus includes a lower chain conveyor (100), an upper chain conveyor (200), and grinding units (300). The lower chain conveyor includes chain units each having first support blocks (115) for supporting compression line springs. The upper chain conveyor includes chain units each having second support blocks (215) for compressing downward upper portions of the compression line springs and thus supporting the compression line springs. The grinding units grind seat surfaces formed on opposite ends of the compression line springs that are moved by the upper and lower chain conveyors. A V-shaped depression (115a) is formed in each first support block so that each of the compression line springs is seated onto the corresponding V-shaped depression. A lower surface (215a) of the second support block that compresses the compression line springs has a planar structure.

  • Patent number: 8539675
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a stabilizer bar for a vehicle includes cutting a stabilizer bar material having a round bar-shaped configuration, heating both end portions of the cut stabilizer bar material to be formed as leg bars of the stabilizer bar, rolling both side surfaces of each of both heated end portions of the stabilizer bar material so that both side surfaces are tapered, rotating the stabilizer bar material about an axis thereof between rollers to taper both remaining non-rolled side surfaces of each of both end portions of the stabilizer bar material to be formed as the leg bars of the stabilizer bar, so that each or both end portions of the stabilizer bar material has an elliptical cross-section, forming eyes on distal ends of the stabilizer bar material, and bending the stabilizer bar material into the shape of the stabilizer bar.

  • Patent number: 8438733
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a coil spring using a helicoid reduction mill includes supplying a coil spring material linearly unrolled by a prestraightener to a surface treatment machine and then short-blasting or scarfing its outer surface to surface-treat the coil spring material; primarily heating the surface-treated coil spring material to a predetermined temperature using a first heater; sequentially supplying and pressurizing the primarily-heated coil spring material in a stepwise fashion such that the coil spring material has the same diameter as that of a coil spring to be manufactured; measuring the diameter and the length of the coil spring material and then cutting the coil spring material to a desired size; secondarily heating the cut coil spring material to a predetermined temperature using a second heater; forming the secondarily heated coil spring material into a coil spring using a coiling machine; and oil-quenching and then tempering the formed coil spring.

  • Patent number: 8328603
Abstract: An apparatus for stress shot peening of a coil spring is disclosed. The apparatus of the present invention is constructed such that coil springs, which are compressed and clamped by corresponding spring clamping units (20) facing each other, are rotated on their own axes and are simultaneously supplied into the shot room (10) for shot peening. Therefore, the present invention can markedly enhance the internal stress of the coil spring, compared to a coil spring treated by the conventional shot peening apparatus. Furthermore, in the present invention, because the coil springs are clamped by the corresponding spring clamping units facing each other and are simultaneously rotated and moved into the shot room for shot peening, various kinds of side load coil springs, as well as a typical cylindrical coil spring, can be evenly treated throughout the entire surface thereof by shot peening.

  • Patent number: 8307683
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing a coil spring. In the apparatus, a body is provided and a pair of machining units are disposed on the body to oppose each other at one end thereof. In each of the machining units, a mandrel is disposed in an upper central part of the body. The mandrel is rotatably configured to wind a coil spring material around an outer circumference thereof. A first motor is disposed at the other end of the machining unit to provide a driving force for rotating the mandrel. Also, a guide roller part is disposed movable along a length direction of the mandrel to guide the coil spring material to be wound around the mandrel. Two coil spring materials produced from a furnace are wound around the mandrels, respectively to produce two coil springs through one process.

  • Patent number: 7984918
Abstract: A stabilizer bar includes a parallel bar which is secured with respect to a frame via fasteners in each of which a bush is fitted, and leg bars which extend from both ends of the parallel bar with distal ends of the leg bars connected to suspension arms. Each leg bar is tapered from an upper end toward a lower end thereof to continuously decrease a section modulus of the leg bar from the upper end toward the lower end thereof so that the stress generated by a load applied to the lower end of the leg bar is not concentrated on a bent part of the stabilizer bar and is distributed over the entire leg bar so as to prevent the stabilizer bar from being broken at the bent part.
