Abstract: A display apparatus which is capable of recognizing a voice and a method thereof are provided. The method includes receiving an uttered voice of a user, extracting a plurality of similar words which are similar to the uttered voice by extracting voice information from the uttered voice and measuring reliability of a plurality of words based on the extracted voice information, setting a word satisfying a predetermined condition from among the plurality of extracted similar words as a target word with respect to the uttered voice, and displaying at least one of the target word and a similar word list including similar words other than the target word. In this manner, a display apparatus may improve a recognition rate on an uttered voice of a user without changing an internal component related to voice recognition, such as, an acoustic model, a pronunciation dictionary, or the like.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes: a voice input receiver configured to receive a voice input of user; a signal processor configured to recognize and process the received voice input received through the voice input receiver; a buffer configured to store the voice input; and a controller configured to determine whether a voice recognition function of the signal processor is activated and control the signal processor to recognize the voice input stored in the buffer in response to the voice recognition function being determined to be activated wherein the controller is further configured to store the received voice input in the buffer in response to the received voice input being input through the voice input receiver while the voice recognition function is not activated, so that the received voice input is recognized by the signal processor when the voice recognition function is activated.

The electronic device includes a motion recognition unit which recognizes motion of an object and a control unit which, if a push motion in which the object located in front of the electronic device is moved in a direction of the electronic device is sensed by the motion recognition unit, activates a motion recognition mode, tracks the motion of the object, and performs a control operation of the electronic device corresponding to a subsequent motion of the object. The control unit may inactivate the motion recognition mode if an end motion in which the motion of the object is in a direction to contact a body part of a user or an additional object is recognized by the motion recognition unit while the motion recognition mode is activated. Furthermore a voice recognition mode may be activated by recognition of a motion different from the push motion.

Abstract: A control method of an apparatus for face recognition includes acquiring an image through an image acquirer, extracting a facial image from the acquired image, determining whether the extracted facial image meets a predetermined quality condition to decide use/non-use of the extracted facial image and performing a face recognizing operation by using the extracted facial image if the extracted facial image meets the predetermined quality condition.

Therefore, if the display apparatus and an external apparatus simultaneously recognize the uttered voice of the user, the display apparatus selects a voice recognition result proximate to an intent of the user from two voice recognition results.

A voice recognition method of an electronic device includes receiving trigger voice, storing a characteristic of the trigger voice for voice verification by analyzing the trigger voice. When a user issues a voice command, determining whether the user voice command comprises the characteristic belonging to the trigger voice, and performing function of the electronic device corresponding to the user voice command based on the determination. Accordingly, users may easily use the voice recognition function of the electronic device.
