  • Publication number: 20030153710
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a weatherable thermoplastic resin, and more particularly to a method for preparing a thermoplastic acrylate-styrene-acrylonitrile (ASA) resin having superior weatherability and colorability. In detail, the present invention provides a method comprising the steps of: a) preparing a seed by adding a water-soluble initiator to an aromatic vinyl compound, or to a (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester, and polymerizing; b) preparing an alkyl acrylate rubber polymer by adding an alkyl acrylate monomer, an emulsifier of pH 3˜-9, and an oil-soluble initiator to the seed, and polymerizing; and c) preparing a thermoplastic resin by adding an aromatic vinyl compound, a vinyl cyanide compound, an emulsifier of pH 9˜-13, and an oil-soluble initiator to the alkyl acrylate rubber polymer, and graft polymerizing.

  • Patent number: 6506845
Abstract: A method of preparing rubber substrate is provided. In the method, 50 to 95 parts by weight of conjugated diene monomer is first-polymerized, until the resulting first rubber substrate has gel content of 5 to 70 wt %. Thereafter, the first rubber substrate is second-polymerized with 5 to 50 parts by weight to obtain a second rubber substrate. The obtained second rubber substrate has higher gel content in core than outer layer.

  • Publication number: 20020028878
Abstract: A process for preparing the acrylate styrene acrylonitrile (ASA) resin having an improved impact strength and a low water content is disclosed. The process comprises the step of preparing alkyl acrylate rubber polymers and the step of grafting aromatic vinyl compounds and cyanized vinyl compounds to the alkyl acrylate rubber polymers. Such emulsifiers as alkyl sulfosuccinate metal salts having 12-18 carbon atoms, alkyl sulfuric acid esters having 12-20 carbon atoms or sulfonic acid metal salts are used in the step of preparing the alkyl acrylate rubber polymers. The emulsifiers as rosinic acid metal salts or carboxylic acid metal salts having 12-20 carbon atoms are used in the grafting step.
