  • Patent number: 8842366
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting, collimating and redirecting light from a point-like source to produce a collimated optical signal in a substantially planar form are provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus is manufactured as a unitary transmissive body comprising a collimation element and a redirection element, and optionally a transmissive element. In another embodiment, the apparatus is assembled from one or more components. The apparatus and method are useful for providing sensing light for an optical touch input device or for providing illumination for a display.

  • Publication number: 20120034391
Abstract: A manufacturing process for a porous material is provided. The manufacturing process for a porous material includes the steps of: mixing a non-ionic surfactant with a precursor of a predetermined material to form a mixture comprising a continuous phase and a liquid crystalline mesophase comprising the non-ionic surfactants, wherein the precursor is essentially located in the continuous phase; coating or depositing the mixture onto a flexible substrate; and converting the precursor of the predetermined material.

  • Patent number: 5114585
Abstract: A process for preparing charge modified filtration media including the steps of forming a filtration microporous or macroporous membranous or nonmembranous medium structure having internal and external surfaces and including a quaternizable nitrogen containing polymer exposed at the internal and external surfaces, permanently charging the exposed quaternizable nitrogen, and rendering the polymer insoluble in solution and permanently adhered within the filtration medium structure.Charge modified filtration media including a filtration medium structure as described having internal and external surfaces, characterized by a quaternizable nitrogen containing polymer exposed at the internal and external surfaces and having permanently charged quaternizable nitrogen. The quaternized nitrogen containing polymer is insoluble in solution and permanently adhered within the filtration medium structure.
