  • Patent number: 6196163
Abstract: An apparatus for saving boiler feed water heat having a closed condensed water vessel for collecting the steam water condensate from one or more reactor steam jacket, and the steam condensate flash over when it enters the closed vessel due to pressure drop. The closed vessel having a boiler feed water pump located below the vessel and the vessel located below the reactor steam jacket, and cold water injection into the condensate prior to entering the feed water pump. The feed pump then taking the cooled condensed water to the boiler reducing the demand for boiler make up water and saving heat and energy.

  • Patent number: 6086351
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for extruding gelled product by conveying a liquid mixture of chemically reacting components into and through a conveyance channel wherein the components chemically react to form a gel while being conveyed through the conveyance channel. The conveyance channel includes internal surfaces that form flow surfaces for conveyance of the product through the channel. The conveyance channel further includes a fluid flow path communicating with the internal surfaces so as to continuously apply a film of fluid over the internal surfaces as the liquid mixture is conveyed through the channel so that the liquid mixture is conveyed as a first phase within the channel surrounded by the film acting as a second phase to separate the first phase from the internal surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5578337
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for a high-volume, mass production process for extruding a gel wherein the gelled extrudate has a preselected shape and is produced without breaking apart and without loss of integrity of the gel. More specifically, the present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for continuously forming a gelling mixture and conveying the gelling mixture into a plurality of extrusion dies in a manner such that shear forces that may be produced during conveyance through the extrusion dies are eliminated during the critical period when the gelling mixture forms a gel. The gelled extrudate may be produced, for example, in the form of onion rings comprised of a substantially homogeneous gel having a preselected shape. An improved method for cutting off the gelled extrudate to produce the onion rings is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5518745
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for conveying a product. In accordance with the method aspects of the present invention, the steps comprise providing a flow channel having internal surfaces and introducing the product into the channel and causing the product to move through the channel for flow as a first phase through the channel. Pursuant to a feature of the present invention, a step of simultaneously applying a film of fluid over the internal surfaces is carried out during movement of the product through the channel to provide a second phase to surround the first phase and separate the first phase from the internal surfaces during conveyance of the product through the channel so that the first phase moves as a plug of material through the channel.

  • Patent number: 5505891
Abstract: A process for injection molding of thermoplastic materials which includes a nozzle body having a bore to provide a flow path for molten thermoplastic. One end of the nozzle body is adapted for connection with a sprue of an associated mold body, and the other is adapted for connection with an end of an associated injection molding machine. The nozzle body has a shut-off valve fluid pin housing adapted for reciprocating movement in the nozzle bore to control the flow of plastic through the nozzle body. The shut-off valve fluid pin housing also includes a body having a fluid pin with a tip portion and a fluid passage formed in the body and open at the tip portion and the other end of the fluid passage communicating with a source of two pressurized fluids, one in vapor and liquid phase and another in gas.

  • Patent number: 4891960
Abstract: A yarn finish applicator in which finish is metered to a slot running from top to bottom of the applicator. The configuration of the body of the applicator its slot and the passage supplying liquid to the slot provides a slot configuration that is relatively insensitive to the yarn threadline alignment within the slot.

  • Patent number: 3994122
Abstract: Crimped polyamide staple filament mixtures and yarn therefrom having a high bulk, high luster free from objectionable sparkle and glitter, and improved resistance to soiling are produced. The novel yarn is a blend of trilobal polyamide filaments having different cross-sections, i.e., modification ratios, within specified ranges and specified proportions for each cross-sectional type of filament. This yarn has particular utility as carpet yarn. The method for producing the novel yarn comprises blending the above-described mixed cross-section filaments.
