Patent number: 10635378Abstract: A virtual server includes one or more processors that execute instructions to generate a virtual desktop, and generate an active virtual monitor and a paused virtual monitor for the generated virtual desktop. A first portion of the generated virtual desktop is assigned to the active virtual monitor, and a second portion of the generated virtual desktop is assigned to the paused virtual monitor. The active and paused virtual monitors each have a respective allocated memory. The amount of memory allocated for the paused virtual monitor is less than the amount of memory allocated for the active virtual monitor. Patent number: 8176561Abstract: A method and appertaining system for implementing the method are provided that utilize predefined Best Practice Templates that are rules/criteria for assessing the security of a particular network and devices on the network. A value is determined for each object and connection within a network as to whether it passes or fails one of the Best Practice criteria, and a pass ratio is determined for a particular Best Practice. Numerous Best Practice tests may be run, and an overall total value based on the collective sum of the Best Practice measurements is determined. This value can be utilized to provide a user with information that relates to the overall security of a network and can be used in compliance determinations and network architecture design.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2009Date of Patent: May 8, 2012Assignee: Athena Security, Inc.Inventors: David Hurst, Sowmitri Swamy, Chandrasekhara Reddy, Anjali Gurnani

Patent number: 7849497Abstract: Described herein are a method and system for analyzing the security of a computer network. According to various implementations, there is a device adapter associated with each device that has a significant impact on the security of the network (e.g., routers, switches, gateways, or “significant hosts”). The device adapter, which may be implemented as a piece of software executing remotely from the device, queries the device to determine what its security settings are (e.g., its firewall rules). The device adapter conducts the query using whichever form of communication the device requires (e.g., telnet, HTTP) and using whichever command set the device requires. Each type of device on the network has a software model associated with it. For example, there may be a router model, a switch model, a firewall model, and a gateway model. The model is made up of a series of rule sets. Each rule set includes rules that are derived from the configuration of the device (obtained by the device adapter).Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2006Date of Patent: December 7, 2010Assignee: Athena Security, Inc.Inventors: David Hurst, Vijaya Raghavan, Chandrasekhara Reddy Yerasi

Publication number: 20060100727Abstract: An automated method optimally designs plates to satisfy an order book at a steel plant so as to maximize the yield of the plates designed while using capacity fully to reduce the production of surplus slabs or plates, and satisfy order deadlines. Our method consists of four main components: (1) mother plate design, (2) slab design, (3) cast design, and (4) material allocation. A column generation framework for mother plate design is used where the problem is decomposed into a master problem and a subproblem. The master problem is used to evaluate packing patterns that should be used to fulfill the order book and the subproblem generates potential one-dimensional and two-dimensional feasible packing patterns as candidates to be evaluated by the master problem. The solution to the master problem produces a list of mother plates that need to be produced. These mother plates are transformed into candidate slabs, which are represented via an interval graph.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2004Publication date: May 11, 2006Inventors: Sanjeeb Dash, Jayant Kalagnanam, Chandrasekhara Reddy

Patent number: 6994876Abstract: An iron-protein hydrolysate complex which may be used to fortify foods and beverages with iron. The complex is formed of ferrous ions chelated to partially hydrolyzed egg white protein. The hydrolyzed egg white protein has a molecular weight in the range of about 500 to about 10,000. The complexes are sufficiently stable as to be suitable for use in sterilized products, such as retorted products. Moreover, despite the stability, the iron in the complexes has substantially the same bioavailability as ferrous sulfate.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2000Date of Patent: February 7, 2006Assignee: Nestec S.A.Inventors: Alexander Sher, Mark Randolph Jacobson, Chandrasekhara Reddy Mallangi, Dharam Vir Vadehra, Elaine Regina Wedral
