Abstract: MicroRNA genes are highly associated with chromosomal features involved in the etiology of different cancers. The perturbations in the genomic structure or chromosomal architecture of a cell caused by these cancer-associated chromosomal features can affect the expression of the miR gene(s) located in close proximity to that chromosomal feature. Evaluation of miR gene expression can therefore be used to indicate the presence of a cancer-causing chromosomal lesion in a subject. As the change in miR gene expression level caused by a cancer-associated chromosomal feature may also contribute to cancerigenesis, a given cancer can be treated by restoring the level of miR gene expression to normal. microRNA expression profiling can be used to diagnose cancer and predict whether a particular cancer is associated with an adverse prognosis. The identification of specific mutations associated with genomic regions that harbor miR genes in CLL patients provides a means for diagnosing CLL and possibly other cancers.

  • Publication number: 20140253311
Abstract: The tire pressure monitoring device has a storage module, a receiver module and a control module. The tire pressure monitoring device retrieves a protocol by external indication or internal discrimination. The external indication is that the control module retrieves a protocol from the storage module according to an external signal, and then the control module compares the retrieved protocol with a protocol of a tire pressure signal received by the receiver module. If a comparison of the protocols matches, the tire pressure monitoring device decodes the tire pressure signal. The internal discrimination is that the control module compares different protocols stored in the storage module with a protocol of the tire pressure signal. If a comparison of the protocols matches, the tire pressure monitoring device decodes the tire pressure signal.

  • Publication number: 20140251795
Abstract: The instant disclosure relates to a manufacturing method of cathode catalyst, comprising the following steps. Initially, mix an organic medium with an iron-based starting material and a nitrogen-based starting material to form a mixture. Followed by adding a carbon material to the mixture and subsequently executing a heating process to form a solid-state precursor. Then mill the solid-state precursor to form a precursory powder. Successively, calcinate the precursory powder in the presence of NH3 to form a cathode catalyst. The cathode catalyst can reduce the activation energy of hydrogen ion reacting with oxygen to make water. The instant disclosure further provides an ozone-generating device.

  • Publication number: 20140255825
Abstract: Some embodiments relate a method of forming a photomask for a deep ultraviolet photolithography process (e.g., having an exposing radiation with a wavelength of 193 nm). The method provides a mask blank for a deep ultraviolet photolithography process. The mask blank has a transparent substrate, an amorphous isolation layer located over the transparent substrate, and a photoresist layer located over the amorphous isolation layer. The photoresist layer is patterned by selectively removing portions of the photoresist layer using a beam of electrons. The amorphous isolation layer is subsequently etched according to the patterned photoresist layer to form one or more mask openings. The amorphous isolation layer isolates electrons backscattered from the beam of electrons from the photoresist layer during patterning, thereby mitigating CD and overlay errors caused by backscattered electrons.
