  • Publication number: 20080198115
Abstract: An overdrive accuracy adjustment device and method for use in liquid crystal display panel is presented. According to a current grayscale value of a pixel in an awaiting to be displayed image and a previous grayscale value of the corresponding pixel in an already-displayed image, the corresponding overdrive grayscale value is found from the look-up table. In order to more efficiently use the limited storage capacity of the look-up table as well as improving the accuracy of the overdrive, in accordance to the physical characteristics of the liquid crystal display panel in particular (in particular to the grayscale values which often required the overdrive), the gap size between the current grayscale values and/or the previous grayscale values with each other should be adjusted in the look-up table, without having to increase the quantity of the overdrive grayscale values stored in the look-up table.

  • Publication number: 20080100553
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and a method of driving the same. The steps of the method contains: (1) upgrade the frame rate up to p/q times (p, q are natural numbers and p>q) and produce a series of output frames; (2) conduct grey level conversions for the series of output frames using different mapping curves based on different gamma values; (3) process the series of converted output frames by an appropriate gamma correction curve and presents the output frames on the LCD panel by an appropriate scanning method. In step (2) of the present invention, two grey level mapping curves, each specified by a specific gamma value, are applied alternately to the series of output frames and the two grey level mapping curves can be identical or different. Thus, the enhancement in brightness and high display performance and quality can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7307611
Abstract: A driving method for LCD panels is disclosed, wherein the driver circuit includes multiple data line drivers and at least two gate line drivers, and the first gate line driver produces a normal image with sequential line scanning starting from the beginning of a frame, and the second gate line driver produces a dimmed image starting from a predetermined number of lines below at the same time to emulate one full sweep across a CRT. Therefore, a dimmed image is inserted into every digitized image, where a dimmed image is defined to be a digitized image with each pixel having a fraction 1/N of the original pixel value. The LCD panel drive using this driving method achieves performance closer to the impulse approach used in CRT displays, and the flickering phenomenon can be significantly rectified.

  • Publication number: 20070075945
Abstract: A double-frame-rate method for reducing the time lapse of a LCD pixel between its two consecutive scans within a frame is provided. The method horizontally partitions the scan lines into (k) non-overlapping regions, each containing m1, m2, . . . , mk scan lines. The method then scans each of the regions twice before continuing to the next region and, as such, completes two passes of scanning of the entire frame. For a pixel in a region (j), the time lapse between the pixel's two consecutive scans during the frame's frame time is (mj/n) of the time lapse of conventional double-frame-rate methods.

  • Patent number: 7081881
Abstract: The present invention relates a time-sharing multiplexing driving method and framework for image signals. By means of a plurality of wiring paths, the turned-on orders of the signal switches of the pixel units in a liquid crystal panel (LCD) are sequentially controlled so that the pixel units of two adjacent phases in the panel can have the same turned-on order. This not only can avoid the situation where the switch control signal serial connecting path in the panel is so long that the control signal of the end switch will be seriously distorted for the excessively great load, but also make the variation amounts of the adjacent pixel data voltages the same. Therefore, the objective of the invention can be achieved. Namely, no joint space is generated during the image signal time-sharing multiplexing driving.
