  • Patent number: 6734984
Abstract: A computer system or peripheral device includes an arithmetic-logic circuit that provides, for example, in binary parallel format a maximum code from a set of input codes, each input code in binary parallel format. The circuit has minimal propagation delay owing to its expandable architecture which includes: an array of product term generators, a summary term generator, and a selection circuit. Each product term generator primarily includes one AND gate per product term having inputs that combine bits of an input code, the product terms being organized in sets. The summary term generator includes one OR gate for each summary term. The selection circuit includes a multiplexer for each set having data inputs responsive to summary term signals and control inputs responsive to summary term signals of higher significance than the highest summary term on a data input of the multiplexer. • Patent number: 5450278
Abstract: A chip type capacitor with a multi-layer structure comprising a plurality of inner electrodes classified into two groups one being used as parts of signal lines and the other being connected to grounded lines. Each of the inner electrodes for radio frequency passages has a pair of inwardly extending recesses adapted to make current flows generated in the inner electrode by radio frequency noise be opposite to each other. Each of at least two grounded inner electrode pairs is interposed between vertically adjacent inner electrodes used as parts of signal lines. The inner electrodes of each pair are connected to ground terminals, respectively, and have a shape formed by removing one protruded grounding portion from a cross shape.

  • Patent number: 5074520
Abstract: An automatic faucet is disclosed which includes a faucet body having a water discharge end and sensors mounted on the faucet for sensing the presence or absence of an object adjacent the faucet. A water supply valve is located in the faucet body which includes a diaphragm type primary valve to control discharge of water from the faucet. Operation of the prinmary valve is controlled by a motor operated in response to a signal produced by the sensor when an object, e.g., hands, are placed beneath the faucet.

  • Patent number: 4953236
Abstract: An automatic service water tap is disclosed in which a battery operated motor is provided for controlling a water supply valve in response to the presence or absence of an object positioned within the range of an infrared generating and detecting system mounted in the tap. The valve operates using only a small amount of electric power under the control of a circuit which draws no electric power once the valve is moved to its opened or closed condition. Thus the consumption of the electric power is minimized to almost zero and the valve can be utilized for a long period of time only with a small single battery.

  • Patent number: 4248686
Abstract: A filter for clarifying carbonaceous liquids containing finely divided solid particles of, for instance, unreacted coal, ash and other solids discharged from a coal liquefaction process is presented. The filter includes two passageways separated by a porous filter medium. In one preferred embodiment the filter medium is of tubular shape to form the first passageway and is enclosed within an outer housing to form the second passageway within the annulus. An electrode disposed in the first passageway, for instance along the tube axis, is connected to a source of high voltage for establishing an electric field between the electrode and the filter medium. Slurry feed flows through the first passageway tangentially to the surfaces of the filter medium and the electrode. Particles from the feed slurry are attracted to the electrode within the first passageway to prevent plugging of the porous filter medium while carbonaceous liquid filters into the second passageway for withdrawal.
