  • Publication number: 20140049097
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a bicycle wheel rim includes: (a) providing a first mold assembly which includes an inner mold and an outer mold, the outer mold having an annular first forming face to surround an annular second forming face of the inner mold; (b) disposing annularly a first prepreg preform that overlie annularly and respectively the annular first and second forming faces; (c) causing the first and second forming faces to press the concaved faces and thermoforming the first prepreg preform to obtain an annular outer rim part; (d) forming a second prepreg preform into an annular inner rim part; and (e) combining the annular outer rim part with the annular inner rim part to form a wheel rim.

  • Publication number: 20060197369
Abstract: A rim structure of a bicycle, including a main body 1 having two annular sidewalls 11-12 and an annular rib 13 connected between the sidewalls. Outer ends of the sidewalls distal 11-12 from the circular center of the rim and the rib 13 together define a chucking groove 14 for chucking a tire 2 therein. The main body 1 is completely made of composite material. Multiple heat-radiating blocks 15 are inlaid in portions of the sidewalls in contact with the brake blocks 3 and arranged at intervals. The heat-radiating blocks 15 are made of high heat-radiation efficiency materials. The main body 1 and the heat-radiating block 15 have different frictional coefficients. The heat-radiating blocks are capable of quickly dissipating the heat generated due to friction between brake blocks 15 and the sidewalls 11-12 of the rim. In addition, due to the different frictional coefficients, an antilock/antiskid effect is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5672227
Abstract: A resin transfer molding process for making composite pipe. The method includes disposing a preform on a mandrel and jacketing a heat-shrinkable sleeve over the preform such that an annular gap is maintained between the sleeve and the preform to form a buffer chamber in the annular gap. A thermosetting resin is then filled into the buffer chamber. The resin is then leveled and settled in the resin in the buffer chamber to form a resin pool. The heat-shrinkable sleeve is thermally shrunk by heating the sleeve. The heating occurs in a heating zone having an upper portion and a lower portion. A first fastening ring is fastened on the sleeve adjacent to the upper portion of the heating zone, and a second fastening ring is fastened on the sleeve adjacent to the lower portion of the heating zone. The heating zone moves upwardly along the sleeve to thermally shrink the sleeve. The resin is heated and cured and the sleeve is removed to form a composite pipe.
